And it results in what you see here… Extreme complexity Many of these lines represent the same data – over and over again Lack of standards – many different technologies and protocols * This is an incomplete mapping of point-to-point interfaces.

Duplication of Effort Duplication of Data Integration Duplication of Infrastructure Providers and consumers Spreadsheets and reports Point-to-point interfaces 1000’s of feeds Same data over and over Disparate latency and logic Multiple protocols Reporting tools DI Tools Databases Licensing Infrastructure Support Three main categories: Effort, Data Integration, Infrastructure Within Central Administration we are beginning to address these Extreme Resource Inefficiency (Financial and People) Impaired Decision Making (All Levels)

Tremendous Progress with Recent UCIO Initiatives: my.harvard Identity and Access Management Other Rich Data Sources on the Horizon: Position Management Buy-to-Pay Contingent Workforce The problem is going to continue to get worse as we get more robust data and better systems of record (alternate view: The opportunities to add value will be more abundant!)
