3rd grade schedule: 8:00 - 8:45 - Reading 8:45 - 9:30 – Specials 9:30 – 9:50 - Recess 9: :15 - Reading 10: :45 – ELA / Writing 11: :33 – Lunch (Each class will have a 30 minute block inside this time frame) 12:30 - 1:15 - Math 1:15 - 2:00 - Science/Social Studies

Subject Areas Reading – 20 minutes a night plus an interactive reading log Spelling – Spelling City online program Math – worksheets reviewing skills taught that week in class There may be Science and Social Studies activities to complete some weeks. The activities may be optional or not depending on the teacher and assignment.

Whose responsibility Each teacher will inform you of their homework procedure. Your student will have to bring back their homework on the due dates. It is the student’s responsibility to remember to turn in their homework.

Behavior management 3rd grade

What does it look like Earning and Losing Funny Money – during the first week of school, each class will determine what behaviors earn/lose money and how much money the behavior will earn/lose them. Bank Ledger – Students will keep track of their money using a bank ledger and this will come home daily in their blue folder.

How you can contribute to our behavior management
End of Quarter Stores – we will ask for volunteers and donated items at the end of each quarter. We will hold a day where the students will get to spend their hard earned funny money. Economic Standards – 3rd graders have to learn some basic economic ideas. They will get to apply this learning to the Funny Money stores in the later quarters.

math Your students will need to have multiplication facts to 100 memorized by the end of the school year. START NOW. Division strategies Multi-digit addition and subtraction – students should have mastered this in 2nd grade!! 2 - Step Word Problems CUBES strategy. Fractions Elapsed Time This is a difficult concept for most 3rd graders.

reading On Grade Level Lexile – Range of 520L – 824L
RI will be given at the beginning of the year to determine the lexile level. They will be reassessed two other times during the year. On Grade Level Lexile – Range of 520L – 824L Resources to find books on your child’s lexile level: * lexile.com * On Grade Level for report card are levels M, N, O, P (by quarter) On Grade Level for DRA are levels 28, 30, 34, and 38 (by quarter) Cobb County has acquired a new language arts program which we will be implementing this year. Car Rider Procedures at Morning drop off/car pool line begins at 7:20. Late afternoon check out needs to occur prior to 2:00. From 2:00-2:30, our front office is very busy with dismissal.
