2. Christmas in the Czech Republic We love Xmas and Xmas traditions in our country. We have parties, sing carols, dance performances, folklore concerts, go to the xmas markets and we decorate the villages, towns and cities with sparkling lights.

4. Christmas food in the CR Typical food for Xmas is a carp and potatoe salad. We also have got fish soup, mushroom soup or sauce, holy crackers with honey called „ hostie“. We bake a lot of ginger bread and christmas cookies.

5. Christmas traditions
Every year we send little ships made of nutshells in water
We cut apples with a star in the middle, it means we will be healthy and lucky next year
We pour hot lead to water to see our future
We go to a midnight mass at CHRISTMAS NIGHT
We go to see the nativity scenes made of wood or hay
We believe in baby Jesus
We get presents after the first star comes out in the sky
We have a big spruce/pine tree in the middle of a town square

7. Christmas carols
There is a stage with live music and traditional folk dancing, and children from all over the Czech republic come to sing carols there.
Children go out on 26th December and sing carols , we call it Saint Stephen´s Day. This little Štěpán begging for cookies and apples and falling down on ice.
Poor boy!!!

8. Christmas in Prague The center of Christmas celebration is The Old Town Square there stands a tall xmas tree and people sing xmas carols. There is also the largest xmas market in the country. Tourists are surprised to see the carps being killed right there in the street. It is a Czech tradition!
