2. Program Description
The Transfer Center assists students in transferring to four-year institutions with an emphasis on the transfer preparation of historically underrepresented students. Services include:
Updated transfer information (brochures, handouts, flyers, guides, online resources)
Computer access for transfer research
Computer access for completion of online admissions applications
Host visits from university representatives to include weekly visits from CSU Sacramento and UC Davis
Academic counseling with a transfer focus
Online application support and guidance
Personal statement support and guidance
Host annual "Transfer Day" event
Transfer-related workshops
Collaboration with on- and off-campus programs that support student transfer (workshops, presentations, accompanying groups to conferences and college visits)
Planning and organizing of visits to four-year universities

5. Major Developments and Accomplishments
The development of an accurate student contact summary;
More stringent and competitive transfer admissions requirements at CSU and UC campuses;
More demand for transfer information to include transfer admissions agreements;
An increase in student interest and the presence of private/independent and out-of-state public universities interested in establishing articulation and admissions pathways;
An online UC Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) program application, limiting students to one campus;
The integration of counseling into the Transfer Center's programmatic function;
The development of associate degrees for transfer (AA-T, AS-T) for the purpose of guaranteeing admission to CSU;
More collaboration with instructional faculty at both CSU Sacramento and UC Davis;
Impaction at CSU, to include the recent impaction of business administration, health science, photography and psychology at CSU Sacramento;
The curricular revision of HCD 318 (Transfer: Making It Happen);
Transfer Center Director involvement in promoting transfer on-campus and updating all faculty with new developments relevant to respective disciplines;
The creation of the Transfer Student Organization, with the Transfer Center Director serving as Club Advisor;
Involvement with the honors program and its promotion of the recent Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) with UCLA;
The involvement of the Transfer Center Director as the designated campus contact for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Transfer Scholarship;
Diminished resources

6. Program Strengths An environment that supports student transfer goals;
Dissemination of updated transfer admissions information;
An environment that enables students to research undergraduate majors, academic programs and four-year institutions;
Adequate transfer counseling;
Support with online research and completion of online applications (i.e., CSU, UC, Common Application, UC TAG); and
Collaboration with campus support programs and transfer programs at four-year institutions

7. Program Challenges Lack of visibility on campus;
Limited space for more computer access;
Lack of a designated office space for four-year representatives, the Transfer Center SPA, and the Transfer Center Director:
No workshop space adjacent to the Transfer Center;
The 50% reassigned time for Transfer Center Director duties does not accommodate the need for the position's advocacy of the campus' transfer mission;
The need for more transfer-related workshops (i.e., UC TAG, Common Applications, STEM majors, CSU/UC application, personal statement, Jack Kent Cooke Scholarships); and
Further collaboration on-campus and with four-year transfer programs

8. Planning Implications
As ARC moves toward an emphasis on student success outcomes, the Transfer Center’s role will become more critical as a vehicle to prepare students for transfer; and meet projected demands as more students will vie to attend community colleges directly after high school due to CSU and UC impacted freshmen admissions, and for financial reasons.
The Transfer Center will continue to offer quality services to better prepare students for transfer success. This can be achieved through adequate visibility, space considerations, continuous collaboration with instruction and student services areas, workshops, transfer- related events, partnerships with four-year institutions (CSU Sacramento, UC Davis), and the notion that a “transfer culture” goes beyond the Transfer Center, but throughout the institution.
