2. Taking A Blood Pressure Reading With Electronic Monitors
Seated for at least 5 minutes, relaxed and not moving or speaking
Arm supported at the level of the heart. No tight clothing constricts the arm
Place the cuff with the centre of the bladder over the brachial artery.
Repeat three times. Initially test blood pressure in both arms.
Use arm with highest reading for subsequent readings

3. Meaning Of The Blood Pressure Reading
Pressure of blood in your arteries, the vessels which carry blood from your heart to brain and around the body
Pressure changes as the heart beats, highest when pumping (SYSTOLIC) and lowest when relaxes (DIASTOLIC) before pumping again
Hypertension is when the blood pressure readings are consistently higher than expected for example if above 140/90
