Reducing government by reversing what the Federalists did.
Refused to deliver speeches to Congress.
Reduced the amount of taxes.
Reduced the size of the federal army
Declared Alien and Sedition acts dangerous to citizens liberties

4. Louisiana Purchase
Jefferson was for expansion of the USA in order to obtain resources.
At first, Jefferson was troubled by the idea of spending public money
The Constitution doesn’t give the president this power.
He eventually convinced Congress to buy the land.
This increased the national debt.
Doubled the size of the USA

Many hated this because the the government was getting involved with the economy.
