HOW NPS ARE REPLACING TRADITIONAL DRUGS (TD)
Criminalization vs legality. Low quality of TD. Easy access to NPS. No contact with dealers. More diversity. No positive tests of urine. Drug users opinions about NPS.

APPROACH TO NPS Media scare. Criminalization and cat-mouse game.
No action in the field of harm reduction for consumers of NPS. Information gap between science and practice (lack of proper knowledge). Risks related to NPS use among PUDH.

Contacts with people using NPS. Educational work with PUDH (written materials, web-sites). Needle exchange. Trainings for staff. Other intervention: (e.g. “daily” shelter, cooperation with the local mental services/hospital).

CHALLENGES OST patients and NPS.
Encouraging for more rational public discussion and better perception of NPS problem. Increase effectiveness of early warning system.
