2 Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement
Science Fair Topic SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Students will pick a science fair project after online research. 1.Go to Sciencebuddies.com 2. Click on get ideas, and take the survey. 3. Choose advanced topics for high school. 4. Review the possible ideas and choose a project. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): SI-H-A1 Write a testable question or hypothesis TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Jeanne School: Sulphur High Louisiana State Standard: SI-H-A1 Grade Level/Subject: 10th and 11th Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Must have topic by end of the hour. Prerequisites for students: Basic knowledge of the scientific method

3 A Science Fair Post science fair project topics for the rest of the class to see. AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. Make a Google slide listing the title of your project, hour, zipgrade student code ID and the question you are investigating. 2. Science Fair Slide This task uses: Learning Objective(s): SI-H-A1 Write a testable question or hypothesis. TEACHER NOTES: Grade Level/Subject: 10th and 11th Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Must have topic by end of the hour. Prerequisites for students: Basic knowledge of the scientific method Note: To do this in your classroom, you will need to create the Google Slide and get the shareable link for your students.

4 significant task redesign.
M Science Fair Students develop the procedure for their experiment MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign. Design experiment outlining independent and dependent variables. Identify the control and constants. Carry out experiment and take pictures or video each step with iMovie or iPad. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): Design and carry out an experiment. TEACHER NOTES: Grade Level/Subject: 10th and 11th Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Must have topic by end of the hour. Prerequisites for students: Basic knowledge of the scientific method

5 R Science Fair Collect and save data in an Excel file.
Data and conclusions. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. Collect and save data in an Excel file. Use Excel to construct your graphs Login to blackboard and go to Mrs. Lejeune’s Chemistry class. Prepare your final report and display using your pictures and video and post on blackboard. Comment on at least 2 other science fair projects and provide one positive comment and one possible improvement. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): Report findings of experiment using graphs and tables. TEACHER NOTES: Grade Level/Subject: 10th and 11th Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Must have topic by end of the hour. Prerequisites for students: Basic knowledge of the scientific method
