Display Board 1 Outdoor Learning Opportunities
P.E. warm up moving the way the animals do/corners/colour hoops Hidden parrots to find with high frequency words on Fruit Treasure Hunt Pass an object between group without dropping Learn names of tropical fruits in the story (Lemon, mango, fig, grapes, cherry and date) Print with the fruits Mix paint colours of fruits Make a fruit salad Learn the names of the animals in the story Where do they live? Design and make 3d models of the animals Make colourful parrots to hang from the ceiling around the display Make colourful butterflies to hang around the room Create a Parrot Tico Tango Dance Make musical instruments which can be used throughout the theme including for Carnival Assembly Listen to the sounds of the rainforest playing within the classroom Focus on phonic sounds at the beginning of each fruit and animal Make up a story about another jungle creature Name the colours on the display and label

Display Board 3 Learn about the animals and fish that can be found along the River Amazon Design and create vines and foliage that can be found in the Rain Forest and along the River Amazon Drama and P.E. around the flowing river Amazon Inspired by the Amazing Amazon Focus on The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl Learn the Poem

Find out about which sports are in the Olympics, try some of them out
Display Board 4 Find out about the city of Rio and be able to name the famous statue that can be found there, create using splatter painting Vinicius and Tom are the mascots for Rio watch the film clip and talk about the characters Find out about which sports are in the Olympics, try some of them out Basketball Badminton Football Swimming Gymnastics Running Use old shoe boxes to make into suitcases and add to display so that when the children open the lids there will be something representing each country in each case e.g. a picture of their landmarks and foods - Eiffel Tower for France and perhaps snails Recognise the Brazilian and the British Flag
