Foodie Fun Farms with Ron and Mijoo
An educational pc/tablet game for children ages 6-10.

Goals To show children where their food comes from: harvesting and planting To show what waste is, where it comes from and how to avoid unnecessary waste To show how the natural world, animals, and humans are all linked together To educate children about different food choices: vegan, vegetarian, omnivore To show what food combinations make up a healthy meal

Themes Animals and nature give us food, so we need to help them grow and flourish Nature, animals, and people are connected through a cycle and are dependent on one another To respect the choices of others and to understand that these differences do not make us better or worse than each other.

Levels Three levels: vegan, vegetarian, omnivore
Map: at each level, the corresponding map icons will be unlocked and in colour. (the locked icons/areas will be grayed out). Tutorial: Ron and Mijoo’s Vegetable Garden will be the mandatory introductory level to introduce gameplay Iso perspective: ‘god view’

Ron & Mijoo Tutorial farmer friends: 1st characters you meet in game [also children. All other farmers will be adults] Multi-ethnic They will follow you on your adventures in other areas of Foodie’s Farm After tutorial level, they will become your help icon on the UI screen They will pop-up and prompt you when you need assistance.

2D-3D Dialogue scenes will be in 2D with voice over and text
Food icons and maps will be in 3D Mini-games will be in 2D or 3D depending on the content 3D allows for children to get a better visualization of the different foods and introduce them to visual spatial awareness on the map

Gameplay You will explore different areas by choosing them on you map
Once in the area, you will have mini-games with unlocks for your menu, collectables for your backpack, and information pertaining to that area for your codex. Ie. In the vegetable garden, you collect earthworms that you can later use for fishing. Once you’ve discovered and learned about a food item, it is unlocked in your menu and can be used to create a meal.

Tomato is a fruit) Matching foods to benefits/nutrition (Ie. Carrot & Eyes) Fishing [measure the fish against a board and throw back ones that are too small (babies), and one’s that are too big (mothers)] Matching fish to the body of water

Mock level Omnivore Level – Francois’ River – At The River
“Francois’ River” (Be careful, the river travels fast. Don’t fall in! Francois will meet us there!) Arrive. Francois gives you a talk about fresh water fish that live there. Minigame: Fishing [sustainability]

Francois explains to you the different parts of the fish and you cook a fish meal with him afterwards using unlocked food items from your menu Area complete. Go back to Francois’ River Map and go to another area for more mini-games, information, and collectables End: when all stations in Francois’ River Map are completed, the area trophy is unlocked.
