5 Most employment sectors have a full range of employment opportunities:
scientist engineer technologist technician skilled trades person skilled trades assistant University degree (4-6 yr.) University Degree (4-6 yr.) College diploma (3 yr.) College diploma (2 yr.) Apprenticeship Certification (2-5 yr.) On the job Training (1 – 2 yr.) It is important to recognize that every sector offers a full range of employment opportunities for individuals with a variety of learning styles and skill development. Every person should be able to see themselves in this continuum. If your child is interested in science & technology, this chart demonstrates that they can pursue employment along one of several paths, depending on whether they prefer a more hands-on v.s. an academic approach. They may want to look at the continuum beginning with the most applied opportunities as a skilled trades assistant or move anywhere along the continuum to the level that best reflects their learning style, interests and aptitudes. Every sector has this continuum - - think about Health care or Hospitality and Tourism - - you will be able to plot a wide variety of careers available to all our students. SHSM - Business Interested students should attend TODAY’s information session and sign up for the program - AUDITORIUM AT LUNCH Required Courses for a SHSM in Grade 11: 2 Grade 11 Business Studies Courses 1 Math Course Additional Requirements – 2 – 4 credits in Co-op (MUST BE COMPLETED AT Central Peel SS) * Will complete additional certifications throughout gr. 11

20 Things to Think About During Course Selection
With ‘Full Disclosure’, Universities and Colleges will receive all of your grade 11 course marks. Plan to have all compulsory requirements done, except gr. 12 English, by the end of grade including Group 1, 2, and 3. There is no pre-requisite for Arts courses, coded 3O0. ie. AWQ3O0, AVI 3O0, ADA 3O0 (ignore myblueprint message)

21 Myths Corrected Universities DO NOT CARE whether you have extra college, open or workplace credits on your record – only that you have a minimum of 6 GRADE 12 U or M courses RESEARCH pre-requisites for university/college: For example - many programs DO NOT require grade 12 math, whereas others require 2

ONLINE – choose courses through your High School Planner on myblueprint.ca/peel OR the BYOD page START PLANNING NOW and SUBMIT ONCE YOU ARE SURE OF YOUR COURSES!!! The online site for course selection will open from Jan 11 – Jan 20 only!!

Click on ‘High School’ to access your High School Planner Once you have logged in to myblueprint, click on high school planner. As an aside, you will have two other opportunities this school year to complete the other myblueprint Individualized pathway plan components. You may use the other sections of myblueprint to help you plan your post secondary destination. For example, the post secondary planner, allows you to search through post secondary destinations of your interest. You may visit myblueprint as much as you like to update, research, and complete your individualized pathways plan.
