Do not share private information!

S All of the information on these cards is personal. If you give this information to others, they could: Use the information to contact you. Pretend to be you, and possibly get you into trouble. Photos are also very personal, so think carefully before you share a picture of yourself or your friends.

S Here are some examples of private information that you should never give out on the Internet: full name home address phone number Social Security number passwords names of family members credit card numbers

Do not MEET someone you have only spoken to online.
Keep online friendships in the virtual world If you do not know who you are talking to, you should not meet them in person under any circumstances

Accepting Emails can be Dangerous
is a really quick and easy way to send messages to people. However, sometimes people send you lots of junk mail (called 'Spam' ') which try to sell you things. You may also receive messages which make you feel uncomfortable. If you are sent any messages like this, tell an adult that you trust and delete them. Don't reply to them!

A Virus? No thanks! If you don't recognize the sender of a document or file that needs to be downloaded, delete it without opening it to avoid getting a virus on your machine

A This can also happen on your mobile phone. Sometimes you might get a junk text message, or you might receive a picture or file which isn't very nice. If this happens, tell an adult too!

R R = Reliable The Internet is full of friendly people and amazing information. However, sometimes the people, or the information, aren't reliable. People might say or write things which are untrue, so you should always think carefully before trusting what you see or hear. Ex. Advertisements

T Tell Someone! Most of the time that you are online, you will have lots of fun. However, if you see something that makes you feel uncomfortable or worried, make sure that you tell an adult who you trust.

T Chat Rooms If you ever get involved in a chat room conversation that makes you feel uncomfortable or in danger for any reason, exit and tell a parent or other adult right away so they can report the incident

T Cyber Bullying If you get these bullying messages online, it's often better to ignore them rather than answer them. Again, if you should tell an adult you trust!
