Assignment Notebook Each student has received a personal planner. Students must use their planners on a daily basis. Students are expected to bring their planner each and every day to class. The planner also helps parents and guardians to keep track of homework assignments and long-term projects. Parents and guardians are encouraged to check their student's planner at least three times a week to stay informed of upcoming assignments.

Classwork/homework Practice is an essential part of being successful; therefore, homework is an essential part of our math curriculum. Students will be assigned classwork each night. Most days, students will be able to start this work in class. What is not completed in class, will then become the homework students need to finish. Assignments will be listed on the homework board in the back of the classroom. Students will be instructed everyday to take out their assignment notebooks and write their assignment down. If they happen to forget to, my lesson plans are located on Summit Hill Junior High’s website. Please note, that these plans are subject to change.

Classwork/homework Assignments will be due the next school day (unless otherwise stated). We will grade the homework together in class, discuss any questions the students have, and then record the grade. Students will be keeping all of their homework for the current unit we are working on in their math binders. This homework becomes an essential part of studying for quizzes and tests. Absent work: If your student is absent, it is your student’s responsibility to get the missing work/notes for the day(s) they were absent. Late work: If your student has work that is late they will be receiving a pink “Late Homework Notice.” This notice will need to be taken home, signed by a parent, and brought back to school with the completed late work. On the third notice, an Office Referral will be given.

QUIZ/TEST Quizzes: Given at the end of each section.
Tests: Given at the end of chapters/units Can use class notes. Can use calculator – on most Can make corrections for ½ credit back (follow redo procedures).

Redo procedure Work needs to be redone on a different sheet of paper.
The original quiz/test should not be altered. Work Students will show all the work to correctly complete the problem that was missed. ALL work must be shown. Explanation Students will write two sentences about the work. One about what they originally did wrong in the problem and the other about how they fixed the problem.

Online component We are now starting to use the My HRW website more frequently. Most of the work that the students will be completing, using the website, will be completed at home. All students have been given a Password Page and it has been affixed to their assignment notebooks. We have spent time in class filling out the website, usernames, and passwords that each student has. Students have also been given a little strip of paper with their username and password. It is recommended that the student adhere this slip of paper to their home computer. As a reminder: The website is: Please make sure all of your pop-ups are allowed. If pop-ups are blocked some parts of the online book will not work If your student does complete an assignment, they should be able to see the score for the assignment on the left side of the screen. If they cannot, please refresh the screen - don't start the work over For my classes, I recommend students complete the online assignments AND show their work with paper and pencil. Mental math is a great tool, but it is not always the best choice If you are in need of any technical assistance please call This is the number for the technical support for Houghton, Mifflin, Harcourt.
