3. Planning Software (1) CVS (Concurrent Versioning System):
Detailed information for configuration has been sent to PI teams.
PI teams should set up CVS now that ITL iteration for Active PC10 / ESB3 starts.
CVS use will simplify ITL iteration between PI teams and RSOC.
Used by RSOC to distribute and archive all planning files and software.
PI teams have read access to:
All scenario planning files related to EPS (and MAPPS), i.e. OIOR, LOR, POR, top-level ITLs, EVF, EPS output files.
EDFs for telecommands, telecommand sequences and modelling.
EPS configuration files.
EPS and MAPPS software.
EDF modelling:
EDFs need many updates. Improvements will be made to support ITL development for Active PC10 / ESB3.

4. Planning Software (2) MAPPS (Mapping and Planning Payload Science):
MAPPS computes and visualises geometry as map projection and parameter plots. MAPPS performs timeline visualisation of ITLs.
MAPPS for MSB, ESB2/3 and Steins have been distributed to PI teams. Please provide feedback on usefulness!
MAPPS for cruise phase (timeline visualisation only) is used by RSOC internally for Active PC10/12.
MAPPS for Lutetia is in preparation.
An improved MAPPS version (for Rosetta some bug fixes only) is being tested.
PTB (Project Test Bed):
PTB computes and visualises geometry as 3D graphics. PTB generates data packages and events.
PTB is used by RSOC internally to support the remaining cruise phase scenarios. Validation is complete.

5. Payload Constraints
FOP Volume 2 Annex 11 contains all attitude constraints related to spacecraft and payload safety. Update planned for September 2009.
Rosetta Constraints Summary and Implementation, RO-SGS-TN-0015, in addition contains all other geometry and operations constraints for payload, e.g. constraints related to science degradation and interference.
Updated version 1/c of document after iteration with PI teams will be released soon.
Formal inputs for both documents are the Rosetta UM and experiment UMs.
Updated constraints that are not yet reflected in experiment UMs, are marked “pending formal submission”.
Please provide updated experiment UM to confirm updated constraints!
Checking of geometry constraints is done manually during cruise phase. Implementation in planning tools will be done for comet phase.

7. Comet Phase Preparation
Baseline planning:
PI teams contribute through the Science Working Groups. Work must be intensified.
Science themes are almost complete, table is being cleaned up.
Prototype of science themes database is available.
Work on test case has started.
Top-level operations requests for all observations (e.g. geometry criteria, pointing, duration, data volume and power) shall be collected by end 2009.
A baseline plan for the escort phase shall be developed by end 2010 considering the scenario options presented by FDyn.
Science Operations and Data Handling concept:
RSOC has completed the top-level planning concept for the escort phase.
User requirements for planning software will be derived in the 2nd half of 2009.
Comet modelling:
Implementation of ISSI science models at ESAC.
