1 IEEE ITS and Related Standardization Activities
ITU-T CITS November 30, 2016 T. M. Kurihara, Chair, IEEE 1609 WG

2 Content IEEE 1609 Project update IEEE 1609 Working Group Meetings
Completed. September 1, CETECOM, Milpitas, CA August 30-31, SAE J2735 meeting, CETECOM September 8 teleconference, subgroup Consensus on revised PARs, technical discussions on guidance notes and Brainpool Curve provisions October 16 teleconference, subgroup November 2-3, San Diego, CA area February 8-9, 2017, CETECOM

3 P1609 Project Status Update
IEEE Standards Association Standards Board approved in January 2016 IEEE ™ WAVE - Security Services IEEE ™ WAVE - Multi-channel Operations IEEE ™ WAVE - Networking Services IEEE ™ WAVE - Identifier Allocation Note: Reference baseline for anticipated NHTSA Regulatory Rule-making Revision of IEEE Std ™ – WAVE - Architecture, in development, align to contents of revised standards Discussion of proposed additional content during September meeting – terminology Expected development completion 4Q 2016 – 1Q 2017

4 IEEE Std 1609.2™ Amendment Project Authorization Requests (PARs)
Proposed amendment content change to include deployment Guidance Notes and error correction (P1609.2a) Proposed new Part 1 formerly reported as part of proposed amendment – security certificate management (P ) Revised PAR approvals expected in December 2016 PAR is active for 4 years, project plan is to develop and approve work products in months Development of P dependent on CAMP study results

5 P Revision Project Create process and procedures for requesting, allocating, and maintaining a register of Provide Service Identifier (PSID), considerations include: IEEE Registration Authority Committee (RAC) Policy, Terms of Reference, and Conventions IEEE 1609 WG PSID sub-group (SG) structure, composition, roles and responsibilities, part of RAC process (proposed) Remove allocated PSID list from standard, post to IEEE RAC site Establish process for IEEE 1609 WG to review, approve requests for allocation of PSIDs collaborating with SAE J2735 TC, and coordinate posting of approved identifiers with IEEE RAC Administrator Coordination for international allocations of PSIDs (a.k.a., ITS-AID) to follow and in collaboration with US-EC HTF, HTG#7 task for a global ITS registries (June 2016 meetings)
