To strengthen the European Research Area in the domain of Earth Observation in coherence with the European participation to Group on Earth Observation (GEO) and the Copernicus.

Step-2 Call was launched on January 20th 2017 as planned
Deadline for proposals submission for Step-2 is May 20th 2017
External Expert Panel for proposal evaluation will meet the second week of June
Evaluation of Step-2 will be completed on June 30th

Negotiation with approval of GA and CA for each proposal will be completed by August 20
All four projects will start on September 1st
Joint Kick-off meeting to be held in Brussels by end of September 2017.

The ERA-PLANET will end on January 30th of 2021.

10. Beyond 2020
ERA-PLANET will end in January 2021 and will deliver to the scientific community and national governments the Strategic Research Agenda to reinforce the ERA and to coordinate the cross- and inter-cooperation of European and national programs in key and selected EO domains.
ERA-PLANET will support EuroGEOSS
In cooperation with major EU players on EO and data science (i.e., ESA) by the 2020 ERA-PLANET aims to facilitate and improve the interoperability among the existing and future projects and infrastructures on EO and links to the GEOSS Common Infrastructure (GCI).

11. Beyond 2020
ERA-PLANET is very strategic for the implementation of EU Space Policy in strategic sectors of Earth Observation through a strong integration of GEOSS and Copernicus by merging in-situ and space observations in the domain of:
urban areas and resilient societies,
resource efficiency and environmental management,
global change and environmental treaties, and
polar areas and natural resources

12. Beyond 2020
Having the above in mind it would be strategic to ensure the continuation of ERA-PLANET beyond It would provide a valuable contribution to EuroGEOSS and specifically to GEO ( ) and EU Space Policy through an effective integration of space and in-situ observation and by stimulating the creation of advanced technological sectors for environmental monitoring to support the implementation of EU and international environmental policy.

13. How ERA-PLANET can contribute to EuroGEOSS
It will deliver a strategic research agenda for GEO ( ) with reference to the topic related to Strands-1 to 4
To support EuroGEOSS development
To support the GOS4M GEO flagship and GOS4POPs GEO Initiative which are aimed ot support the implementation of the Minamata and Stockholm Conventions
To contribute to the 2030 Agenda on SD
