Advisors
Be available and respectful to students
Be efficient and accurate when discussing degree requirements
Understanding of core curriculum, institutional requirements, and degree requirements
Assist students in developing decision-making skills and encourage them to accept responsibility for their choices

Encourage and support students as they develop realistic goals and attainable educational plans.

Update and review your Plan of Study prior to each advising appointment

Campus Availability
Associate’s of Science in Computer Science only available on the Gainesville Campus
Can only take 1000 – 2000 level courses at the Associate’s level
Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science only available on the Dahlonega Campus
Can take 1000 – 4000 level courses at the Bachelor’s level
Internal Transfer
Computer Science, A.S. students on Gainesville must internally transfer to Dahlonega to complete B.S. Computer Science.
B.S. Computer Science students on Gainesville must internally transfer to Dahlonega to complete 3000 – 4000 level courses.
Computer Science courses require minimum grade of a C or higher

Elite Competition Opportunities: The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems offers two elite competition opportunities for Computer Science students.
Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) Team
Codin’ Nighthawks
UNG Programming Team: Competes annually at ACM and CCSC programming competitions in the region.
Traditional Programming Team through the Mike Cottrell College of Business. Students may participate in with weekly practices to the Southeastern Qualifying Competition.
