1 9not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
God’s Essence Love We have already seen that God is Sovereign. He rules the heavens and the earth; His Word is law and must be obeyed. Disobeying God is sin. God is also Righteous. In His perfect goodness, He cannot stand sin; in His Justice, God must punish sin. Who took the punishment for us and was judged for all our sin? (Jesus Christ) None of us deserved this. We are only saved by God’s grace (Eph.2:8,9). Ephesians 2:8–9 (NASB95) 8For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. Grace is God doing something for us which we cannot earn, and do not deserve. God’s grace comes to us because of God’s love. Love is the next attribute of God’s Essence we will learn about. Explain this page. God's Essence

2 Sovereign God God’s Essence Love Grace
Long before man was created and became a sinner, God because of His love decided to treat him in Grace. Sovereign God wanted to give man free gifts and love. God Sovereign Grace God is Sovereign and can do what ever he wants to do and is always righteousness and Just when he does anything. Because of Sovereign God’s Love, in eternity past He wanted to treat sinful man with Grace (to give and share with man free gifts and love). Again, God’s Grace is giving us something that we can’t get for ourselves and what we don’t deserve. Sinful man exists, because of Adam’s sin in the garden, by disobeying God and eating from the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil. God judged him for his sin, he died spiritually (lost his human spirit) and his flesh was given a sin nature, OSN, STA. All of mankind after Adam, inherited that sin nature in his flesh and man was born a sinner. On the next page we will see what prevented God from giving sinful man His Love. God's Essence

3 Sovereign Righteous Justice Love
God’s Essence Love But God, who is Righteousness, cannot have fellowship with someone who is not as Good as He is good (R+). Man’s righteousness, is (R-). Sin, like a big wall stood between God and man. “The wages of sin is death.” (Rom 6:23a). To be spiritually dead means to have no fellowship with God. But God is Love. God Sovereign Righteous Justice Love S I N Grace As we have learned in studying God’s Righteousness, God can have no fellowship with someone that is not as good as God is good (R+). We see that Sin is a big wall between God and sinful Man. This prevents God from sharing His love for us and having fellowship with us. Who are spiritually dead (have no human spirit)? All unbelievers and believers out of fellowship. God's Essence

4 God’s Essence Righteousness God’s Righteousness R+
. Man’s Righteousness R- God is perfectly righteous, His absolute Righteousness is called R+. Man’s Righteousness is called R-. This shows us God’s Righteousness in comparison to man’s righteousness. Man’s righteousness is basically nothing compared to God’s. We call man’s righteousness R-. Man has basically little to no righteousness compared to God. Some people are more righteousness than others but none can be compared to God’s. God's Essence

5 An Unbeliever BODY Sin Nature Man SOUL IMAGE OF GOD
An Unbeliever is Spiritually Dead Because They Are Born Without a Human Spirit Romans 6:23a “For The Wages of Sin is Death” An unbeliever is born and has a body with a sin nature and a soul, but without a human spirit, because of his sin nature. (OSN, STA). Without a human spirit, he cannot learn about God or have fellowship with God, because God is spirit. Basically The only spiritual thing that they can understand is the Gospel Message, about Jesus Christ dying for their sins. When an unbeliever believes that Jesus Christ died for their sins on the cross, their human spirit is restored and they are indwelled by the Holy Spirit. SOUL

6 Sovereign Righteous Justice Love
God’s Essence Love God hates sin, but He loved the sinner and wanted to be friends with him now and forever. God decided that if someone could be found who was sinless and willing to be punished, and judged in place of the guilty sinner, God could again be free to give man His Love. Because of God’s Perfect Love, He sent His Perfect Son, Jesus Christ to take, and bear the sins of all mankind. God Sovereign Righteous Justice Love S I N Grace God hates sin, because He is perfectly righteous. Because God is Just, He must punish all sin. Because of God’s perfect love, he sent his perfect son to take and bear the sins of all of mankind. God's Essence

7 Sovereign Righteous Justice Love
God’s Essence Love “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son” (John 3:16). God sent His Son to die on the cross in our place to remove our sins. The wall of sin has been removed by Jesus Christ. Then, God’s love can once again come to man. And now, “we love Him, because He first loved us” (1John 4.19). God Sovereign Righteous Justice Love Grace God demonstrates His Love for mankind, by giving his Son to die on the Cross to remove our sins, the wall of sin. Jesus Christ had to be sinless, he never sinned, in order to take (bear our sins on the cross). He did not have a sin nature, the OSN, STA, because he had no human father. His Father was God, the Holy spirit. Jesus the Son of God, took all of mankind’s sins and was judged and punished for those sins on the cross. Jesus paid the full penalty for all of man’s sins. This satisfied God’s Righteousness. Because of that, by God’s grace he gives us, Believers His love. This is as long as we are in fellowship. We must remember that God loves all of mankind, believers and unbelievers and that Jesus died and took (bore) all the sins of all mankind. John 3:16. But God has a special love for Believers that he doesn’t have for unbelievers and gives us special love and gifts because we have believed in His Son. Stopped here on 6/15/14 God's Essence

8 God’s Essence Love Jesus on The Cross
All of Man’s Sin’s and Guilt Transferred to Jesus on The Cross Jesus on The Cross John 3:16 1 John 3:16a 1 John 3:16 (NASB95) 16aWe know love by this, that He (Jesus) laid down His life for us; John 3:16 (NASB95) 16“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 tells us that “God so loved the world”, that is both believers and unbelievers. But for believers, we have a special love from God, and will have eternal life in heaven and God will reward our deeds. Unbelievers are loved by God, but because they do not believe in His Son, Jesus, they will perish in the (lake of fire) for ever. We see in 1 John 3:16 that we know what love is by the fact that Jesus died for us on the cross and bore our sins so that if we believed we would have eternal life in heaven. God's Essence

9 Fallen Angels (Demons)
God’s Essence Love Lake of Fire Hell Unbelievers Satan Fallen Angels (Demons) Antichrist False Prophet John 3:16 (NASB95) 16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. Heaven Believers Matthew 7:13–14 (NASB95) 13 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 14 “For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. God shows His special love for Believers, by giving them a special grace gift of an eternity in Heaven. Believers are also rewarded for our deeds at the Bema seat of Christ. Unbelievers on the other hand will spend an eternity in the Lake of Fire for not believing that Jesus Christ died for their sins on the cross. Add pages 7 & 8 from the Essence of Eternal Life to explain where people went immediately when they died prior to Christ’s resurrection and after Christ’s resurrection. God's Essence

10 God’s Essence Love God is Eternal and His Love is Unchangeable
Psalm 136:1 (NASB95) 1Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, For His lovingkindness is everlasting. Jeremiah 31:3 (NASB95) 3The Lord appeared to him from afar, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness. We see here, that God’s Love is eternal and His love is Unchangeable. Psalm 136:1 tell us that God is good and that His Lovingkindness is everlasting (it lasts forever) and has existed in eternity past. Jeremiah 31:3 In this verse, God is telling Jeremiah that He had loved him with everlasting love and he created him in Lovingkindness (Love). By application he does the same for you and me. Malachi 3:6a In this verse, God is saying that he doesn’t change. Micah 7:18 In this verse, Micah is telling us that Gods delights (is happy) in his unchanging Love. These verses tell us that God has in eternity past loved us and that love for us will never change. Malachi 3:6a (NASB95) 6“For I, the Lord (God), do not change; Micah 7:18 (NASB95) 18d Because He ( God) delights in unchanging love. God's Essence

11 Bible Verses That Tell Us that God is Love
God’s Essence Love Bible Verses That Tell Us that God is Love 1 John 4:8 (NASB95) 8The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:16 (NASB95) 16We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. These Bible verses tell us that “God is Love”. Your Memory verse is in blue. 1 John 4:19. Memory Verse 1 John 4:19 (NASB95) 19We love, because He (God) first loved us. God's Essence

12 God’s Essence Love The Love of God is Formed in The Life of a Believer When in Fellowship Romans 5:5 (NASB95) 5and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. (when we believed) Galatians 5:22–23 (NASB95) 22But the fruit of the Spirit (Holy Spirit) is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. This Love Overflows Into The Lives of Others 1 John 4:7-21 Romans 5:5 show us how the Love of God is produced in the life of a believer when in Fellowship. God the Holy Spirit is given to us when we believe. The Holy Spirit when we are in fellowship pours God’s love into our hearts. Galatians Tells us of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Love is part of the fruit of the Spirit. As with any fruit, this has to grow in the believer in time when in fellowship. We also see that this Love of God overflows into the lives of other people. This is explained in 1 John 4:7-21 which is on pate 15.. God's Essence

13 Believer in Fellowship
Holy Spirit BODY Sin Nature Galatians 5:17 John 14:26 (Helper) Man IMAGE OF GOD When a person believes in Jesus, immediately he is given the Holy Spirit which then indwells him. The Holy Spirit is a helper, who teaches you about the Word of God. John 14:26 26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. Also when a person believes in Jesus, immediately their human spirit is reborn, regenerated. Titus 3:5 5He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, The Holy Spirit is constantly fighting against your sin nature (that wants you to sin). Galatians 5:17 17 For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. SPIRIT SOUL Titus 3:5

14 God’s Essence Love God's Essence 1 John 4:7–21 (NASB95)
7Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. 10In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us. 13By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 14We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. 15Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. 18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. 19We love, because He first loved us. 20If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also. These verses explain how God loves us and how we ought to love other people. The word abide means to stand in or remain in. It can mean to be in fellowship, as we remain in God, and fellowship with him. God's Essence

15 God the Father Demonstrated His Love to the Fallen Human Race
God’s Essence Love God the Father Demonstrated His Love to the Fallen Human Race God the Father’s Love 1 John 4:9 (NASB95) 9By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. Romans 5:8 (NASB95) 8But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. These verses show how God, The Father has shown his Love to the Fallen, sinful human race. 1 John 4:9 tells us that the love of God was shown in us, by Him sending His only unique Son (Jesus) into the world so we might live in eternity in Heaven through Him. Jesus did this by dying on the cross and taking all of mankind’s sins. He paid the penalty for all sins on the cross. Romans 5:8 tells us that God showed us his Love toward us, while we were sinners (unbelievers), having Christ die for us. That really showed God’s love for us. 1 John 4:10 tells us not because we loved God, but because he loved us that he sent his Son to be the propitiation, satisfaction for our sins. 1 John 4:10 (NASB95) 10In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. God's Essence

16 God the Son Demonstrated His Love to the Fallen Human Race
God’s Essence Love God the Son Demonstrated His Love to the Fallen Human Race God the Son’s Love 1 John 3:16a (NASB95) 16We know love by this, that He (Jesus Christ) laid down His life for us; John 10:11 (NASB95) 11“I (Jesus) am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep (Believers). These are verses tell us how God, The Son showed his love for all of the sinful, fallen human race by dying on the cross for our sins. John 15:12 (NASB95) 12“This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. God's Essence

17 God’s Essence Love As Part of God’s Family, Believers Are Disciplined by Love Hebrews 12:6–7 (NASB95) 6For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, And He scourges every son whom He receives.” 7It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? Proverbs 3:12 (NASB95) 12For whom the Lord loves He reproves (scolds), Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights. Revelation 3:19 (NASB95) 19‘Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. Proverbs 13:24 (NASB95) 24He who withholds his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him diligently. Since we as believers are part of God’s family, He is our Father. He will discipline us at various times for sinning. But he will do this out of His Love for us. In Hebrews 12:6-7, we see that because he loves us he will discipline us. Does not your father discipline you, how much right does God your father have to discipline out of His love for you. In Proverbs 3:12, we see that because the Lord, God loves us he reproves or scolds us. And is Revelation 3:19, Jesus the God-Man says that to those He loves He reproves (scolds) and disciplines us. He does this because He loves us. Proverbs 13:24, tells that by love we should discipline our children. God's Essence

19 Luke 16:19–31 (NASB95) 19“Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day. 20“And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, 21and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man’s table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores. 22“Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried. 23“In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom. 24“And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’ 25“But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. 26‘And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.’ 27“And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father’s house— 28for I have five brothers—in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ 29“But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ 30“But he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!’ 31“But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’ ” Read these verses together and emphasize the parts that are underlined. These verses are a story that Jesus told. It is not a parable as parables do not name people. This is an actual story that took place. God's Essence

20 The lower part/heart of the Earth
God’s Essence Hades Prior to The Resurrection Of Christ Luke 16:19-31 The Earth Abrahams Bosom Paradise Believers “a great chasm fixed” Hades/Sheol Place of Torment Unbelievers This page is explained by the story of “rich man and Lazarus, which Jesus told in Luke 16:19-31. Hades/Sheol is located in the lower part of the earth. This what happens to people when they died before the resurrection of Christ. This includes all OT souls and NT souls prior or before the resurrection of Christ. Unbelievers and Believers bodies all went to the grave. Their souls all went to Hades / Sheol (this is a word used in the OT). All Believers souls went to the “Abrahams Bosom (Paradise)” compartment. Unbelievers souls went to the “place of torment”. This is a compartment below the compartment of the Paradise, it was hot and tormenting. The unbelievers could see into the Paradise compartment, but could not go to it, because there was a great chasm or gulf fixed, a large space separating the two compartments. Below the place of torment for unbelievers, there is another compartment called “Tartarus” which is where the fallen angels in Genesis 6, who infiltrated the human race before the great flood are, in pits of darkness awaiting their judgment. The lower part/heart of the Earth 2 Peter 2:4 Tartarus Fallen Angels of Gen. 6 “pits of darkness” God's Essence

21 The lower part/heart of the Earth
God’s Essence Heaven Hades After The Resurrection Of Christ Believers The Earth Luke 16:19-31 Christ took Believers to Heaven Eph. 4:8-9 Ps.68:18 “a great chasm fixed” Hades/Sheol Place of Torment Unbelievers This page shows us that Jesus Christ went into Hades after His Resurrection and took the believers souls from the Paradise compartment of hades and brought them to heaven. So now after Christ’s resurrection, believers souls when they die go directly to Heaven. Ephesians 4:8–9 (NASB95) 8Therefore it says, “When He ascended on high, He led captive a host of captives, And He gave gifts to men.” 9(Now this expression, “He ascended,” what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth? Psalm 68:18 (NASB95) 18You have ascended on high, You have led captive Your captives; You have received gifts among men, Even among the rebellious also, that the Lord God may dwell there. When unbelievers die their souls immediately go to Hades as before the resurrection of Christ, the place of torment. Their souls will be united with their resurrection bodies and judged at the Great White throne judgment. They will then be thrown into the Lake of Fire, and be tormented forever and forever. Now when believers die their souls will immediately go to Heaven and at the rapture, their souls will be united with their resurrection bodies and will then spend an eternity in heaven. The lower part/heart of the Earth 2 Peter 2:4 Tartarus Fallen Angels of Gen. 6 “pits of darkness” God's Essence

22 What Do We Learn From the Story of the Rich Man and Lazarus?
Luke 16:19-31 The Rich Man was an unbeliever and Lazarus was a believer Lazarus died and was escorted by an angels to the Paradise compartment in Hades, when we die, we will probably be escorted to heaven by angels. The rich man died and found himself in Hades “in torment” The rich man saw Abraham and Lazarus in Paradise at a distance The rich man was in torment and asked Abraham to send the poor man with water on his finger to cool him off. The rich man was “in agony in this flame”, we may have some sort of a pre-resurrection or temporary body. Lazarus was being comforted in Paradise and the rich man was in agony There is a large fixed space between the Paradise compartment and the “place of torment” which no one can cross over. The rich man asked Abraham if he would send Lazarus to his 5 brothers so that they might not also come to the place of torment. Abraham said that they have Moses and the prophets (The Scriptures), and let them hear The rich man said that if someone would go to them from the dead, they would repent (change their minds). Abraham said that if his brothers did not listen to Moses and the Prophet (the Scriptures) they would not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead. Jesus arose from the dead and many people in His day and throughout the ages did not repent and believe in Him. Review these observations… God's Essence
