AT Education Graduate from an CAATE (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education) Program Must pass the NATABOC examination Complete CEU’s – 50 every 2 years Must meet state requirements Licensure- Certification- Registration- Exemption- Licensure- state requires education and training background; most restrictive Certification- the person possesses the basic knowledge and skills required in the profression and has passed a certification examination – differs than certification by BOC Registration- before an individual can practice athletic training, he or she must register in that state – paid a fee to be placed on list of practiticioners Exemption- state recognizes that athletic trainers perform functions similar to those of other licensed professions yet still allows them to practice athletic training despite the fact that they do not comply with the practice acts of other regulated professions.
