Two important construction projects are happening this summer on the Newburyport/Rockport Commuter Rail Line which will help to improve safety and service. Beverly Drawbridge Reconstruction WEEKDAYS – July 17 to August 13 Positive Train Control (PTC) Installation WEEKENDS – July 8 to September 30

4 Impact on weekday service
The Beverly Drawbridge reconstruction project will shut down all train service north of Salem Station from July 17 – August 13. Newburyport Ipswich Beverly Depot Boston Salem Manchester- by-the-Sea Gloucester Rockport Bridge Reconstruction Regular service will run between Boston and Salem No train service.

7 Weekday schedule

8 Weekday fares Zone 3 monthly passes will be accepted on the entire Newburyport/Rockport Line in July and August. Customers who normally buy a Zone 4-8 monthly pass should purchase Zone 3 passes for the months of July and August to take advantage of this opportunity. Corporate pass customers - Connect with your company’s pass administrator to change your current Zone 4 to 8 monthly pass order to a Zone 3 monthly pass for July and August. If your company has already ordered its July passes, ask your administrator to apply the price difference to your Zone 3 August pass. Zone 3 fares for single and 10-ride tickets - Passengers who choose to purchase single-ride tickets during construction will be charged no more than a Zone 3 fare when paying onboard the train or via mTicket. Important to know: If you purchase Zone 3 10-ride tickets, be sure to use them by the end of construction - August 13. After that date, fares will return to their regular prices. If you still have Zone 3 tickets and want to travel beyond there, you will have to pay the difference.

11 Impact on weekend service
A Federally-mandated Positive Train Control system (PTC) will upgrade our train signaling systems to operate more safely. Installation of the system will shut down all train service on the Newburyport/Rockport Line from July 8 – September 30. During this time, the MBTA will be providing diversion service to keep weekend customers moving. 14 Weekend Fares Zone 3 monthly passes will be accepted on the entire Newburyport/Rockport Line in July and August. $10 roundtrip – Weekend fares sold at North Station in Boston. Two children 11 and under can ride free with 1 adult.
