7:00 am: Volunteer Check In on the Quad Receive assignments, t-shirt and breakfast!

8:30: Volunteers in place as 1,700 Kindergartners arrive to be “college students for the day” Greet students – clap off, line of high fives Tour Guides: Meet your class, get your goody bag, move out of the immediate area Introduce yourself, distribute visors, double check photo release bracelets. Go to first assigned station (then free choice) District Representative at each drop off spot

9:00 – 11:00: Activity stations all around campus
Hands on activities Lively demonstrations Sponsored by Faculty, Staff & Student Clubs Each activity should last about 15 minutes

Talk about your favorite classes Your career goals Who helped you get through school/come to college Ask them what they want to do when they grow up What they like best about school Relate their experiences back to FC Share your story

Quad Closing 11:00am – 11:30am Tour Groups return to Quad at 11:00
Activity stations close down and clean up at 11:00 College President, Music, Guest Speakers, Buzzy 11:30 Tour Groups return to District pick up spot 11:30 -12:00 tour guides stay with group until they are on the bus. All other volunteer help tear down.

11:30 – 12:00: Departure & Tear Down Tour Guides get classroom box and stay with your group until they are on the bus All other volunteers, tear down and clean up activity stations, signs, drop off areas, go to hub if you need assignments After clean up got to cafeteria for light lunch Documentation & Evaluation

Expectations for Student Volunteers

Don’t forget! They’re only 5 years old
When possible, talk to them individually and in small groups Short attention spans! – 3 to 5 minutes & they’re looking somewhere else In big groups - Talk Loud! Kids at the back of the group probably can’t hear you. Know where the closest bathroom is, but don’t mention it. You are not responsible for discipline

SCHOOL RULES & CAMPUS SAFETY
Rule of Three – No adult should ever be alone with a single Kindergartner SCHOOL RULE - NEVER TAKE A KID TO THE BATHROOM! Stay off your phone while working with kids Appropriate language Professional dress for working with kids Keep your group together. Sandwich Line. Hallway & Building Monitors and Signage – trust us

Activity station tips TURN IN YOUR ACTIVITY STATION REGISTRATION FORM before March 15th
Come Up with a FUN NAME! Hands on activities are best Use visuals &/or music $ for Supplies: If you need supplies write that on your registration form & we’ll buy them for you. Be interactive! Pair college students with kids in small groups Ask kids questions Share your own personal story – What were you like in elementary school? Who told you about college? Where did you go to school?
