KS ORIENT STAR-2 Distinct Advantages Hull No: N408 Shipyard: COSCO
Year of Build : New Build IMO Number: Classification: ABS Notation – A1, Self Elevating Drilling Unit – HAB+ Drilling package is NOV, most equipment is none Chinese
2
CONSTRUCTION QUALITY KS drilling experienced operations team directly involved in all testing, commissioning and endurance trail activities. KS drilling experienced operations team directly involved in all testing, commissioning and endurance trail activities. Rig was built under direct supervision of a team of KS drilling projects and operations. All design and construction specification, engineering drawings / documents reviewed and approved prior to construction. Build overseen by an experienced drilling contractor with operations and client requirements paramount.
3
ACCOMODATION The Rig is built in compliance with ABS Crew Habitability guidelines HAB+, providing improved working and living environment in terms of environmental qualities such as noise, vibration, climate, lighting, floor space and arrangements. Improves the workers performance, wellbeing and retention. Provision for 150 POB. Only 1 man and 2 men rooms, (no 4 or 6 men rooms). Each room has independent toilet / shower attached, no shared toilets like other rigs. 7 Single men cabins, offering more flexibility
4
ACCOMODATION 10 Offices, all located on the same level, improved interaction and reduced traffic for sleeping areas. Additional spaces for safety training, conference, communication Heli lounge, video, smoking and non-smoking recreation and document storage.
5
ACCOMODATION Office layout is on one floor. Spacious mess room
Two dedicated grocery container platforms close to galley, easier/faster handling of groceries
6
ACCOMODATION Spacious changing rooms with locker quantity 150% of POB, benches, tables and pantry for Pre job / tool box meetings and dirty tea room Larger Dry provisions store, sized to cater more than 14 days for 150 persons Dedicated communication room for crew, partitioned workstations with computers and internet facility Laundry has 8 washers and 8 dryers. More flexibility and redundancy Dedicated toilet/wash area for catering crew, close proximity with galley/mess. Dedicated office for catering
7
DRILLING CAPABILITIES
Rig has capability to build stands offline, second iron roughneck and rotating mouse hole
8
DRILLING CAPABILITIES
Unlike many other rigs the derrick has provision for manual monkey board which allows operations to continue even in event of prolonged automated pipe racking system failure Two interchangeable driller’s chairs which facilitate operating auxiliary equipment in parallel and as back up control for main drilling operations
9
DRILLING CAPABILITIES
Pipe racking system (PRS 4i) with automated and foldable finger board, in addition, automated catwalk with dedicated pipe handling knuckle boom crane, increases operational efficiency. Manual monkey board provision. Unlike many other designs operations can continue. Spare Drag way / catwalk with winch for cantilever pipe rack, as back up for automated catwalk. Draw works with 4 drive motors - redundancy for a nonstop operations. Mud pit room, is spacious with headroom and enclosed pits. The equipment are arranged in compliance with HAB+
10
DRILLING CAPABILITIES
Foldable conductor tensioning platform, flexibility to position both transverse and longitudinal Feet Port-Stbd and 5 Feet Fwd-Aft
11
DRILLING CAPABILITIES
Cantilever has higher drilling envelope, 80 feet to aft and 15 feet both sides, combined max load capacity 3200 Kips. API Monogramed Derrick with larger foot print of 36 feet x 36 feet and clear height of 175 feet. Result spacious drill floor, increased set back, clear vision and safer work place. As the derrick has a larger envelope, it can accommodate 313 stands of 5 7/8” DP, 10 stands of 8” Drill collar, 6 stands of 9 ½” Drill collars OR 195 Stands of 5 7/8” DP, 56 stands of 9 7/8” casing, 10 stands of 8” Drill collars and 6 stands of 9 ½” drill collars at the same time Low pressure mud system incorporates high volume 2600 GPM mixing / charging pumps and 900 GPM of trip tank pumps, faster mud preparation and operations. Simultaneous bulk mixing, loading inter tank transfer operations. 3 utility and 2 man riders for more flexible and parallel auxiliary functions.
12
OPERATING CAPABILITIES
Capable of operating with 48 ft. wave height and 2 knots current at -20°C, relatively higher than rigs in the series Variable load capacity 8886 Kips in normal operating condition and 5386 in storm conditions Life boats 200% capacity, 100% capacity each side. Preferable to other designs with one boat FWD, which results in only 150% overall
13
OPERATING CAPABILITIES
Dedicated 6000 GPM preload pump sized for high volume, reduced head, which considerably reduces preload duration. One Out of Three Raw water pumps is reel mounted with hoses, running continuously during jacking operation
14
OPERATING CAPABILITIES
Jacking motors have spring loaded disc brakes. There is no requirement for a rack chock system, this reduces additional time and resources before and after moves and removes the maintenance requirement. 536 feet legs, quadrangular design and high shear stiffness structure, much stronger than triangular structure, no requirement for monitoring, measuring or adjusting of RPD – smooth and faster jacking operation
15
OPERATING CAPABILITIES
2 x 125 Ton hoists and trolley beams, giving dual redundancy for HP BOP stack and accessories. Unlike some systems, the individual hoists will not only support the stack but can move, lift and lower. Deck cranes, 3 x 140 ft. x 75 Ton capacity, coverage of entire rig and well platform. Since same design and capacity, parts and equipment are interchangeable.
