5. Input Devices
An input device is a piece of hardware that is used to enter data into a computer.
There are two categories of input devices, manual input devices and automatic input devices.
For example a mouse or keyboard is a manual input device, whereas an ultrasonic sensor is an automatic input device.

6. Output Devices
An output device is a piece of hardware that is used to display or output data which has been processed or has been stored on the computer.
There are many different kinds of output devices.
You don't need to know a great deal about any particular one, but you do need to be able to identify the most common and be able to make suggestions as to the most appropriate output device to use in a given scenario. You also need to be able to explain why your choice is the right one and compare it to other output devices that you could have chosen.

7. Where do the devices fit in?
Input devices allow the user to put data (information) into the computer
The computer processes this data, performs calculations, or manipulates this data
It decides what should be output to the user:
A Letter on a screen?
A number in a sum?
The computer outputs the data to the user using an Output Device

9. Input and Output Devices to help people with disabilities
People are diverse! - some people are not able to use the 'standard' devices that you or I use in our every-day lives. And so, devices have been specially developed to allow for these differences.
Some disabilities mean that the input devices themselves need to be placed at convenient locations for the person. For example, someone with physical problems may need to have the input devices close by.

13. Grade 9 Extension
A secondary storage device refers to any volatile storage device that is internal or external to the computer. It can be any storage device beyond the primary storage that enables permanent data storage.
Create a revision resource that identifies the different secondary storage devices that are available to a business that wants to back up their internal data in a secure manner. You should explain the different hardware technologies could be used including:
