Can be used to answer the interview question “Tell me about Yourself?” Is your networking pitch! Job Fairs etc… Describe yourself using two adjectives What is you title? (Refrain from using regulated titles) Your Education/Credentials Describe three areas/industries/sectors that you have worked at Describe your top three skills/strengths related to your job What is your passion/what are you committed to? (What brings you to the event or the interview)

Take 5 minutes to write down your elevator pitch With a partner, take 30 seconds each to practice your elevator pitch Switch partners and practice!

Networking: Interact with other people to exchange information and develop contacts, especially to further one's career The best way to access unadvertised jobs is to make DIRECT CONTACT with possible employers through Informational Interviews. 16 How to Set Up an Information Interview
Make a list of your network (friends, family, coworkers, former classmates, dentist, doctor, anyone you know) Activity: take five minutes to list your contacts. Look at any organizations you belong to or think about joining one. Professional association, school clubs or teams. Check out Meetup.com for local groups in your community Use your existing network to connect you to someone who is either working in your industry, occupation, or company of interest Use LinkedIn, Twitter, and other sites to connect as well them politely asking them for their time for half an hour to an hour for an information interview. Give them a reason to say no and/or to speak to you over the phone or via Prepare a set of questions to ask Respect their time during the interview and make sure to ask for another contact!
