2. FYI: Benchmark settlement coming soon
FWEA is collaborating with the district to settle the Benchmark Assessment grievance that occurred last fall. Your Association Representatives, Advocacy Team and members raised their voices and concern, and we appreciate all of those who have stood together to cause this settlement. Information will be coming soon via , after we generate an FAQ and create a communication plan to ensure a smooth answer.

3. ESP overtime
ARs will meet with our ESPs to discuss the overtime needed to complete their jobs, and collaborate with the principals to ensure it occurs.
Example “June is extremely busy. I expect to need 8 hours for graduation, 5 hours for checkout, 8 hours for report cards. Will you please pre-authorize this overtime (we have to preauthorize it as per our CBA?). I will check in with you in two weeks to talk about where we are at for hours.”
Section 10.1 (page 8) All Overtime must be authorized by the supervisor prior to the work being done. Document this.
(Section 10.2 speaks to how
overtime is calculated.)

4. Consensus

Participation in decisions by school staffs enhance the quality of those decisions. Finding consensus within a group of dedicated professionals isn’t always a quick and easy process, however, this investment of time and listening creates a sustainable solution of which everyone feels a part.
Consensus is a process, note a vote! Principals have rights in this process that they should be aware of.
Some decisions may best be made by site-chosen committees. Please note that whether to use a site-chosen committee must be a shared decision in itself. The proposal would then be brought to the entire staff for consensus.

5. Bargaining support Elementary school: June 12th 7:40-8am at WEA
(A bargaining session was added on June 19th, 4:00-8:00. Updates are sent to your home .)
