Private/Out of State College Guidelines
Admission requirements vary by institution. Many use A-G criteria. Some may require additional Math & Science. Check which admissions tests required. Most use “committee” type process & comprehensive review. For highly selective colleges – Strong admissions test scores, rigorous academic load, many of the factors used in UC Comprehensive Review. Usually high tuition for Non Residents. Explore WUE (Western Undergraduate Exchange)- wiche.edu/wue IMPORTANT Use Naviance to check individual campuses admission requirements, testing requirements & deadlines.
22
Admissions Requirements
23
UC and CSU A-G Subject Requirements
Grades of “D” must be remediated to meet admission requirements. See your Counselor if you have questions. MHS’s “A-G” course list has been handed out.
24
College Admissions Tests
Know test deadlines for campuses. SAT: Usually November or December. ACT: Usually October or December (no November ACT offered). Send scores directly from testing agency. ACT Test w/Writing- UC Admissions: Writing Test IS used. CSU Admissions: Writing Test IS NOT used. SAT Test- UC’s: Take highest combined score from individual sitting (including Writing Score). SAT Subject Tests may be required for some majors. Scores could help for impacted majors & campuses. CSU’s: Combine best Critical Reading & Math scores from multiple sittings. SAT Subject Tests not used for admissions purposes.
