Radial Design/Rotational Symmetry
2
What is it? the radius is the distance from the center of the circle to its perimeter . When something is symmetrical, it means that it is balanced, or the same on each side. It can be turned less than a full turn around its center point in a counter clockwise direction, and this will look the same as its original position
3
Essential Question How can we recognize geometric relationships and apply them to other disciplines?

Rubric for Rotational Symmetry Project
25 points 20 points 10 points 0 points Score Neatness, good craftsmanship Student accurately, patiently, and neatly copied the work from each pie wedge Student copied the work mostly accurately, but it could have been neater Student did not seem to copy very accurately Student did not copy accurately, student did not finish the project originality Student made a challenging choice for a design, and the work was not too “easy” Student’s choice was good, but not very challenging Still showed some difficulty Student’s choice was somewhat simple, and easy to copy Student made a choice that was far too easy and not challenging at all Wedge size and match up Wedge lines lines are drawn evenly with straight lines from a ruler, and wedges match up Wedge lines are drawn somewhat evenly, student did not take time to match wedges Student did not match up wedges at all, or did not use a ruler to draw lines Student did not draw wedges and copy design correctly at all there is no evidence of symmetry Effort, attitude Student made his or her best effort with this project Student made a good effort, but not their best Student made little effort, and did not use time wisely Student made no effort, and project is unfinished Total score
