Section 1-9: Graphing Data on the Coordinate Plane
2
Cartesian Plane: (Coordinate Plane)
y II I ORIGIN x III IV QUADRANTS AXES
3
Ordered Pair (x, y) The coordinates of a point
Ordered Pair (x, y) The coordinates of a point. (Horizontal movement, Vertical movement) ***It takes 2 values to make ONE POINT. Plot (2, 3) WRONG CORRECT
5
Scatter Plot: A graph of ordered pairs that represent 2 different sets of data. i.e. You could plot how many hours you worked at a job for a week and the paycheck amount you received for the hours you worked. You could see if there was a relationship between your 2 sets of data.
6
Positive Correlation: When your data graphs in a POSITIVE slope.
7
Negative Correlation: When your data graphs in a NEGATIVE slope.
8
No Correlation: When there appears to be no significantly positive nor negative slope forming. (your data is unrelated to each other)
