Sex Age Race Hispanic Origin Household Relationship Tenure Census 2010 collects the basic demographic characteristics such as sex, age, race and Hispanic origin, and household relationship. In addition, tenure (owner vs. renter occupied housing units) will be included as well. This is the same information that was collected in the 2000 Census. 3 3 3 3

Information from this question is used to: Meet legislative redistricting requirements. Monitor compliance of the bilingual election requirements under the Voting Rights Act. Meet guidelines mandated in the October 1997 revised standard for the classification of federal data on race and ethnicity. Collect the U.S. population’s vital, social, and health statistics.

The Hispanic or Latino population will more than triple by the year 2050. The population will grow from 35.7 million in 2000 to million in 2050, an increase of 272%. Their share of the population would more than double from 12.6% to 30.2%. 73
