18. Lemon Experiments Adult volunteer will:
Get 1 packet for each student and 1 for themselves
Get 1 lemon for their team
Populate hypothesis sheet based on team inputs
Work with team to test hypotheses
Help students fill out their packets
Ask team how they could reuse or recycle the lemon rind
Ensure table is cleaned up and be ready to make lemonade.
Lead the lemonade activity giving each student a role(s).
Adult only will cut the lemon in half and handle the knife
Materials Needed per team
1 lemon
1 pitcher
1 set dry measuring cups
1 juicer
1 liquid 2 cup measuring cup
1 cutting board
1 knife
1 digital scale*
* Ideal to have 1 scale/team, but ok to have 1 scale shared by the class

19. Lemon Science Experiments: Hypothesis (what do we think will happen?)
Let’s guess at what we think will happen: This is called a hypothesis.
How much will the lemon weigh?
Will the lemon sink or float in water?
Lemon volume: How much space does our lemon take up? (Show measuring cups as visual aids for guess: ¼ cup, ½ cup, ¾ cup, 1 cup)
Lemon Yield: Will the amount of lemon juice be more, less, or equal to the size of the lemon?
Lemons: What do we think we’ll observe with our 5 Senses?

22. Making Lemonade Lets MAKE our lemonade Materials/Ingredients we SOURCE
2 quart pitcher
Large spoon
1 cup lemon juice from concentrate
1 cup granulated sugar
6 and 1/2 cups cold water
1-2 cups ice cubes
Measure and pour 1 cup of granulated sugar into your 2 quart pitcher.
Shake the container of lemon juice concentrate so it is mixed up. Measure one cup of lemon juice concentrate, and pour it into the pitcher containing the sugar.
Measure 6 1/2 cups water. Add one cup at a time and mix thoroughly.
Add 1-2 cups of ice cubes and stir.
Clean up  and deliver lemonade to our team!

Social Responsibility/Giving Back to the Community:
Host a student led after school lemonade stand to raise money for your school or charity of choice.

Student’s complete in class and take home to share with their parents.

Human Lemonade Supply Chain Options
Students form the supply chain in front of the class:
Print double sided and laminate re-usable cards on 8.5 x 11 paper (pages 30-91)
Students form their sections of the lemonade supply chain in front of the class and stay in front of the class until the entire supply chain is built.
Create a classroom poster that remains with the class:
Print a large sized poster template (page 8 with outlines, but no pictures)
Paste poster template in a visible place in the classroom
Print small lemonade supply chain cards that could be taped to the poster
Teams go up to poster one at a time and build their supply chain (power point in parallel)
Poster stays with the class.
