1 The King Comes to Us St. Peter Worship at Key to Life

2 Welcome to St. Peter! Today begins the greatest of all weeks: Holy Week. There is no better place to be than in God’s house to receive Jesus as our King as he arrives on the final leg of his mission to bring salvation to us sinners. God bless your worship today and all week.

3 Welcome to St. Peter! There are friendship registers at the end of each row of chairs. Please take a moment to give us your information so that we have a record of your time with us today. Thank you!

4 For Our Guests If you have questions, let us try to help. Speak with an usher, greeter, or the person next to you. If you’d like to learn more about St. Peter and its ministry, please talk to a pastor or member after the service.

6 Prayer before Worship Today we honor you as our King with joyful exuberance. But in reality, you are going forth to suffer the pangs of death for us. What wondrous love you have in becoming subject to the cross. It should not happen, but we are grateful it did because through you alone, we find forgiveness, peace, and heaven. To you we give all praise. Amen

7 Please be courteous and silence all pagers and cell phones.
Thank you

8 OUR COMMUNION PRACTICE
In the Sacrament of Holy Communion, Jesus gives us his true body and blood. We express unity with our Savior and those who share our faith and stand on the teachings of God’s Word. Therefore, we invite to our altar those who are members of our church or the WELS. Visitors and guests who wish to commune are asked to speak to a pastor before the service begins.

17 Let All the People Praise You Songbook p. 56 Verses 1-3

18 Verse 1: Daughter of Zion, shout for joy! Shout aloud, Jerusalem! Christ your King now comes to you; See, he comes, the Prince of peace.

19 Verse 2: Hail, hosanna, David’s Son! See your people’s palms of praise. Your eternal kingdom come! Praise be sung to God on high!

20 Verse 3: Hail, hosanna, David’s Son! Hear our welcome, gracious King! Firmly stands your throne of peace, God the Father’s only Son!

21 Opening Verses Pastor: The grace of our Lord † Jesus Christ, the King of Palm Sunday, and the love of God the Father and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you. All: And also with you.

22 Confession of Sin Pastor:
As believers in this Triune God, let us confess our sins to him.

23 Confession of Sin All: For the times we have not welcomed you or your Word—and the times we have resisted it— Lord, have mercy on us. When our mouths have not given true Hosannas, but have been muted and silent—Christ, have mercy on us.

24 Confession of Sin All: For all the moments we have been selfish and unwilling to spread our goods before you, unlike the people who placed their cloaks before you when you entered Jerusalem—Lord, have mercy on us.

25 Confession of Sin Pastor: God has been merciful to us and has given his only Son to be the atoning sacrifice for all our sins. Therefore as a called servant of Chris and by his authority as our King, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Be at peace with God!

26 Confession of Sin All: God’s Word is truth. I am forgiven by Jesus’ blood, and I am the heavenly Father’s child through my baptism. God knows me by name and loves me. Hosanna in the highest!

27 All Glory, Laud, and Honor CW #131 Verses 4-5
Text: Theodulf of Orléans, Setting: VALET WILL ICH DIR GEBEN Tune: Melchior Teschner, , alt.

28 Verse 4: All glory, laud, and honor To you, Redeemer, King, To whom the lips of children Made sweet hosannas ring. To you before your passion They sang their hymns of praise; To you, now high exalted, Our melody we raise.

29 Verse 5: All glory, laud, and honor To you, Redeemer, King, To whom the lips of children Made sweet hosannas ring. As you received their praises, Accept the prayers we bring, O Source of ev'ry blessing, Our good and gracious King.

30 (The pastor says the Prayer of the Day.)
All: Amen.

31 God’s Word to His People
Zechariah 9:9-10 See your King comes to you

32 God’s Word to His People
Philippians 2:5-11 Christ’s humility is our rescue

33 Verse of the Day Pastor: The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. The hour has come.

34 God’s Word to His People
Matthew 21:1-11 The King is coming!

35 The Explanation of the 2nd article of the Apostles’ creed
All: I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the virgin Mary, is my Lord.

36 The Explanation of the 2nd article of the Apostles’ creed
All: He has redeemed me, a lost and condemned creature, purchased and won me from all sins, from death and from the power of the devil, not with gold or silver, but with his holy, precious blood and with his innocent suffering and death.

37 The Explanation of the 2nd article of the Apostles’ creed
All: All this he did that I should be his own, and live under him in his kingdom, and serve him in everlasting righteousness, innocence and blessedness, just as he has risen from death and lives and rules eternally. This is most certainly true.

39 Who Is He In Yonder Stall Songbook P330-331
Text and Tune: Benjamin R. Hanby

40 Verse 1: Who is he in yonder stall, at whose feet the shepherds fall? Who is he in deep distress, fasting in the wilderness? ‘Tis the Lord! Oh, wondrous story! ‘Tis the Lord, the King of glory! At his feet we humbly fall. Crown him, crown him Lord of all!

41 Verse 2: Who is he the people bless for his words of gentleness? Who is he to whom they bring all the sick and sorrowing? ‘Tis the Lord! Oh, wondrous story! ‘Tis the Lord, the King of glory! At his feet we humbly fall. Crown him, crown him Lord of all!

42 Verse 3: Who is he who stands and weeps at the grave where Laz’rus sleeps? Who is he the gath’ring throng greet with loud triumphant song? ‘Tis the Lord! Oh, wondrous story! ‘Tis the Lord, the King of glory! At his feet we humbly fall. Crown him, crown him Lord of all!

43 Verse 4: Lo, at midnight, who is he prays in dark Gethsemane? Who is he on yonder tree dies in grief and agony? ‘Tis the Lord! Oh, wondrous story! ‘Tis the Lord, the King of glory! At his feet we humbly fall. Crown him, crown him Lord of all!

44 Verse 5: Who is he who from the grave comes to heal and help and save? Who is he who from his throne rules through all the world alone? ‘Tis the Lord! Oh, wondrous story! ‘Tis the Lord, the King of glory! At his feet we humbly fall. Crown him, crown him Lord of all!

45 Sermon Hebrews 8:12

46 2. God Did Through Our King
Erasing Sin 1. We Can’t 2. God Did Through Our King

47 In thankfulness for our salvation, we support God’s work with our offerings.

48 Prayer of the Church

49 Lord’s Prayer All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.

50 Lord’s Prayer All: Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those
who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

51 Lord’s Prayer All: For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen

52 The Sacrament Pastor: The Lord be with you. All: And also with you.
Pastor: Lift up your hearts. All: We lift them up unto the Lord. Pastor: Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God. All: It is good and right so to do.

53 The Sacrament Pastor: It is truly good and right that we should at all times and in all places give you thanks, O Lord, holy Father, almighty and everlasting God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. God made His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for the sins of the world. (1 John 2:2) Therefore with all the saints on earth and hosts of heaven, we praise your holy name and join their glorious song:

54 Holy, Holy, Holy (Sanctus)
All (Sung): Holy, holy, holy Lord God of power, God of might: heav’n and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

55 Words of Institution Pastor:
Our Lord Jesus Christ, on the night he was betrayed, took bread; and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

56 Words of Institution Pastor:
Then he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for you for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

57 The Sacrament Pastor: The peace of the Lord be with you always.
All: Amen.

58 Distribution of Holy Communion

59 Prayer Pastor: We give you thanks, O Lord, for the foretaste of the heavenly banquet that you have given us to eat and to drink in this sacrament. Through this gift you have fed our faith, nourished our hope, and strengthened our love. By your Spirit help us to live as your holy people until that day when you will receive us as your guests at the wedding supper of the Lamb, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. All: Amen

60 The Lord bless you and keep you
The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look on you with favor and give you peace. All: Amen.
