2 Office chair adjustments
Seat height – feet firmly supported on ground or footrest Lumbar support – backrest adjusted vertically and horizontally so lumbar support firmly in small of back (belt region) Arm rests – remove or lower out of way

3 Computer desk Height adjusted so keyboard just below elbow level – if can’t adjust desk raise/lower chair and use footrest if necessary Keyboard located so upper arm is vertical and forearm is horizontal If working from laptop or tablet in field minimise time spent keying and utilise a table rather than lap if prolonged.

4 Desktop layout Regularly used items placed within comfortable reach:

7 Computer monitor Eye level approximately at top edge of the screen
Distance to avoid eye strain (usually arms length away) Laptop computers – raise laptop and have separate keyboard and avoid glare

8 Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD)
MSD are associated with repetitive, sustained, unnatural or forceful movements: The Don’ts Prolonged and intense keyboard or mouse use High demands on vision Sustained mental effort Peak demands or set work rates The Do’s: Change posture at frequent intervals Don’t key all day Give yourself mini breaks Practice gentle stretching at work
