Joaquin Ortegon Intergrated Physics and Chemistry

2 Write down your observations of this picture.
Warm UP: Write down your observations of this picture. Have students describe what they see in the picture as a warm up. Leading questions What colors do you primarily see? Why did the artist chose the colors that he or she did? How are the least used colors made? Identify green (shirt and box) /orange (street barricade) / purple (stoplight) as not being used much. Goal: Student should identify the least used colors as the product of Synthesis: Red + Blue = Purple Red + Yellow = Orange Blue + Yellow = Green Inversely, students should identify the most used colors being similar to Lysis: Purple, Orange, and Green decompose/ break down into the most basic colors. We cannot break down the colors red, blue, and yellow anymore.

3 Which are the primary colors?
Red, Blue, and Yellow are the primary colors. Red and Blue synthesize to form Purple. Blue and Yellow synthesize to form Green. Yellow and Red synthesize to form Orange.

4 Fold your construction paper hamburger style and cut it in half
Fold your construction paper hamburger style and cut it in half. Place your scissors back where they belong

5 Fold both new strips hotdog style

6 Write De Hydration Synthesis in the proper colors
Write De Hydration Synthesis in the proper colors. (Include the Dotted Lines)

7 Cut Along the Dotted Lines without cutting the bottom layer.

8 Flip open the De Flap and write what the prefix De means. (OFF)

9 On the bottom of the de Flap, Draw a picture that will help you remember that the prefix DE means oFF.

10 Flip open the Hydration Flap and write what Hydration means. (Water)

11 On the bottom of the hydration Flap, Draw a picture that will help you remember Hydration has to do with water.

12 Flip open the Synthesis Flap and write what synthesis means. (combine)

13 On the bottom of the synthesis Flap, Draw a picture that will help you remember synthesis means to combine.

14 Paste the foldable into your notebook and define dehydration synthesis

15 Write Hydro lysis in the proper colors. (Include the Dotted Lines)

16 Flip open the Hydro Flap and write what Hydro means. (Water)

17 On the bottom of the hydro Flap, Draw a picture that will help you remember Hydro has to do with water.

18 Flip open the lysis Flap and write what lysis means
Flip open the lysis Flap and write what lysis means. (decompose = break apart)

19 On the bottom of the lysis Flap, Draw a picture that will help you remember lysis means to decompose = break apart.

20 Paste the foldable into your notebook and define hydrolysis
