OT prophecies regard the Messiah
We believe that Jesus is the Messiah, so he’d better fulfill those prophecies
If Jesus isn’t the Messiah, what does that mean for our faith?
God promised to send a savior
Imperative that we know that God keeps his promises; why?
We shouldn’t just “take it on faith”
OT was given to us for a reason – to lead us to Jesus

4. Seed of a woman Prophecy: Genesis 3:15
15 And I will put enmity / Between you and the woman, / And between your seed and her seed; / He shall bruise you on the head, / And you shall bruise him on the heel.“
Fulfillment:
Galatians 4:4-5
4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, 5 so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
Matthew 1:18
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.

5. He will bruise Satan’s head
Prophecy:
Genesis 3:15
15 And I will put enmity / Between you and the woman, / And between your seed and her seed; / He shall bruise you on the head, / And you shall bruise him on the heel.“
Fulfillment:
Hebrews 2:14
14 Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
1 John 3:8
8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.

6. Seed of Abraham will bless all nations
Prophecy:
Genesis 12:3
3 And I will bless those who bless you, / And the one who curses you I will curse. / And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed."
Fulfillment:
Galatians 3:8
8 The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "ALL THE NATIONS WILL BE BLESSED IN YOU.
Acts 3:25-26
25 "It is you who are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, 'AND IN YOUR SEED ALL THE FAMILIES OF THE EARTH SHALL BE BLESSED.' 26 "For you first, God raised up His Servant and sent Him to bless you by turning every one of you from your wicked ways."

7. Promise made to Abraham’s Seed
Prophecy:
Genesis 12:7
7 The LORD appeared to Abram and said, " To your seed I will give this land." So he built an altar there to the LORD who had appeared to him.
Fulfillment:
Galatians 3:16
16 Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, "And to seeds," as referring to many, but rather to one, " And to your seed," that is, Christ.

8. Priest after the order of Melchizedek
Prophecy:
Genesis 14:18
18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; now he was a priest of God Most High.
Fulfillment:
Hebrews 6:20
20 where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

9. King of Peace and Righteousness
Prophecy:
Genesis 14:18
18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; now he was a priest of God Most High.
Fulfillment:
Hebrews 7:2
2 to whom also Abraham apportioned a tenth part of all the spoils, was first of all, by the translation of his name, king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, which is king of peace.

10. Seed of Isaac Prophecy: Genesis 17:19
19 But God said, "No, but Sarah your wife will bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.
Fulfillment:
Romans 9:7
7 nor are they all children because they are Abraham's descendants, but: "THROUGH ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS WILL BE NAMED."
Matthew 1:2-16
2 Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers.

11. Lamb of God promised Prophecy: Genesis 22:8
8 Abraham said, "God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." So the two of them walked on together.
Fulfillment:
John 1:29
29 The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

12. Seed of Jacob Prophecy: Genesis 28:14
14 "Your descendants will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
Fulfillment:
Luke 3:34
34 the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor,

13. Seed of Judah Prophecy: Genesis 49:10
10 " The scepter shall not depart from Judah, / Nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, / Until Shiloh comes, / And to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.
Fulfillment:
Luke 3:33
33 the son of Amminadab, the son of Admin, the son of Ram, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah,

14. Called Shiloh (the one sent)
Prophecy:
Genesis 49:10
10 " The scepter shall not depart from Judah, / Nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, / Until Shiloh comes, / And to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.
Fulfillment:
John 17:3
3 "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
