2 LOC8 Hardware Training Location Technologies Equipment Features
Equipment Installation and Removal

3 LOC8 Differences Wi-Fi tracking option greatly
decreases “no pos fix” messages Improved motion detect Disposable straps Smaller size Battery exchange Proximity tamper alerts Double tap communication Vibrate option No software changes

4 Location Technology Overview
For Satellite and CellLocate to be accurate, they require at least 3 points of reference. Reference Points can be: Satellites (US Government GPS sponsored) or GLONASS (Russian satellites) Cellular Towers (Sprint® and Verizon®)

5 Wi-Fi Accurate in urban and densely populated environments
Indoor positioning using Wi-Fi is more accurate Due to the short-range nature of Wi-Fi signals, the uncertainty area of Wi-Fi- based location is smaller than many other location methods More accurate solution because Wi-Fi will have more access points in a closer proximity than cell towers

6 CellLocate™ CellLocate estimates position based on cell towers
Three points of reference needed for an accurate location Sprint® or Verizon® Advantages Able to obtain location fix under conditions in which standard GPS systems do not work well or at all (Inside buildings, urban canyons, moving cars and other conditions where the GPS signal is blocked or affected by multi-path fading) Disadvantages - Only works with cellular coverage

7 LOC8 Features Sleek, Compact, Lightweight Design
Field-Replaceable Battery Tether-less Charging Field-Replaceable, Adjustable Strap Multiple Location Technologies Multiple Tamper Monitoring Over the Air Firmware Updates CDMA Cell Module

8 Status Indicator/ Battery Light
Flashes every 5 seconds Flashes Blue: indicates GPS is available (when enabled) Flashes Green: indicates battery is charged or good battery status Flashes Red: indicates the battery is low LED Brightness can be configured in Device Setup/Unit Configurations – recommended to be set to low.

9 Strap design Rubber & Fiber Optic
One-time use, durable, flexible, hypoallergenic

10 Proximity Tamper Detection
Tamper Detections Fiber Optic Infrared light is beamed through the strap Any variation of the amount of light collected will cause the LOC8 to report a tamper Reinforced for strength Proximity Tamper Detection Requires installation against the leg- cannot be loosely installed Ensures client does not “slip” it off without removing the strap

11 Internal/External Battery
Internal backup battery inside unit Removable, external lithium-ion battery 3 year in-use life 5 year shelf-life Comes with two external batteries and battery charger that can be plugged into standard outlet External battery No battery Battery charging

12 Charging LOC8 The LOC8 device runs off of it’s internal battery. The external battery placed in the unit charges the LOC8’s internal battery. The LOC8 does not run off of the external battery. The battery status icon seen in TotalAccess is the internal battery status. Lasts approximately 24 hours total with a full charge External battery lasts up to 20 hours Internal battery lasts up to 4 hours Takes 2 hours to recharge a fully depleted battery

13 Client Notifications LOC8 can emit audible messages or vibrations.
External Speaker LOC8 can emit audible messages or vibrations. Clients can receive just audio messages, just vibrations, or audio and vibrations. Types of Notifications Automatic Officer initiated

14 Automatic Voice Notification
Tracking Rule Events “Failed to enter an inclusion zone” “Entered an inclusion zone late” “Leaving an inclusion zone early” “Entering an exclusion zone – leave now” “Leaving an exclusion zone” “Leaving your master inclusion zone” “Entering your master inclusion zone” Can be enabled/disabled by contacting your Monitoring Customer Service Representative or by adjusting settings in the “Client Notify” section of TotalAccess Tracking Unit Events “Low battery, recharge unit” Battery charge has dropped to 25% or less Configurable to remind client again after set time period Can be enabled/disabled in “Device Setup/Unit Configurations” section of TotalAccess

15 Officer Voice Initiated Notifications
Tools Tab in TotalAccess “Call your officer now” “Please pay your fees immediately” “Remember your appointment” “Report to the office immediately” “Low battery recharge unit” Can be sent “On-Demand” or scheduled to be sent at a future date and time.

16 Notification Acknowledgement
Can require client to acknowledge messages Client should double tap the tracking unit to acknowledge he/she received the notification message. Available in English/Spanish

17 Installation- Parts list
Tracking Unit Batteries (2) Strap Security Clips (2) Key Charger B. A. E. F. D. C.

18 Installation- Attaching
Slide the security clips into each side of the tracking unit until you hear a distinctive click. Check for proper installation by rotating the unit around the ankle. There should be some resistance when rotating. Insert the battery.

19 Battery Charging When battery replacement is required, swap the batteries and place the low battery in the charger. Continue rotating the batteries so that a charged battery is always available.

20 Charging the battery Plug in the battery charger. - when properly powered, the Charger LED (closest to the power supply) will illuminate Place the battery in the charger. If the battery requires charging, the Battery LED is red. - a fully charged battery LED light is green Charger LED Battery LED Power Supply

21 Charging the battery When the LOC8 sends a low battery message, the tracking unit LED will flash red. Remove the battery from the device & place it in the charger. Install a charged battery. Tracking unit LED

22 LOC8 Unit Configurations
Off, Low, Medium, or High. Audio, Vibration, or Both Sets the tracking unit’s speaker and LED to look disabled, yet device is actively running.
