5. INFORMATION ABOUT RURAL AREAS OF LITHUANIA
Area of utilised agricultural land : 2805,9 thous. ha (it covers ~ 43,0 % of all registered land. Less-favoured area covers 50 % of the total utilized agricultural area in Lithuania).
Area of arable land: 2185,7 thous. ha it covers 77,9 % of utilised agricultural land and 33,5 % of all registered land).
Meadows and natural pastures: 589,3 thous. ha (it covers 21,0 (31,4) % of utilised agricultural land and 9,0 (13,4) % of all registered land).
Orchards and berry plantations: 29,2 (35,2) thous. ha (it covers 1,0 (1,3) % of utilised agricultural land and 0,4 (0,5) % of all registered land). 5 5

7. SITUATION
Lithuania is located in the zone of excessive humidity: about 90 per cent of all the crop products are grown on the drained land. About 2.9 mill. ha of land have been drained; 2.6 mill. ha of these by drainage (86.3 per cent and 77.4 per cent of agricultural landed property respectively). The mean age of the drainage systems is more than 41 years, and most of the systems have not been renovated during that period, this is why its wear-and-tear reaches 65.2 per cent (one year ago was 64,5). The agricultural farmland area of especially poor drainage quality reaches 222 thousand ha, or 6.6 per cent of total agricultural landed property.

Reconstruction of drainage systems and their hydro technical constructions and liming of the acid arable soils with the pH ≤5,5 in the drainage territory;
Reconstruction of polders;
Reconstruction of hydro technical constructions in artificial water bodies;
Access to farmland improvement, reconstruction, installation or internal local roads with gravel. New!
Beneficiaries:
1. Public legal persons (municipalities, associations of reclamation system users);
2. Groups of natural and/or legal persons. New!
Eligibility conditions:
1. Constructions and equipment with depreciation of more than 45% (does not apply to local roads).
2. Project foresees reconstruction of the constructions which are in the record of the Land under Reclamation and reclamation construction (does not apply to local roads).
Intensity of support - up to 80 percent.

16. SELECTION CRITERIA:
1. Only where the planned reconstruction of polders, or more than 10 km of ditches - given 20 points; 2. Projects requesting support lower intensity than the possible maximum intensity of support - provided 5-20 points; 3. The planned land reclamation and reconstruction of hydraulic structures in the sites, which are located in the territory, located in one or more of the common boundary having cadastral areas - provided 5-15 points; 4.
