It’s Monday the 12th of March 2012 and it’s a very special day!

The 54 Countries that make up the Commonwealth celebrate their links and friendship with each other.

3. Because The Gambia is part of the Commonwealth we are celebrating the day in style! 

4. Instead of going to class like we usually do everyone gets to dress up in their best clothes!

5. I have dressed up as an English Banker 
Some of us even dress up in the traditional clothes of people in other Commonwealth country’s!

6. The girls also got to plait their hair with shells and sweets!
We think everyone looked really pretty!

7. It’s a lot nicer than the normal school food! 
As a treat for commonwealth day we also get to bring a special lunch in from home

13. Finally we had a disco in the afternoon and played African music from different African countries!
Everybody got to dance and we had lots of fun! 
