Session objectives Why Windows Azure is a economical way to build dev and test environment and benefits that are provided. How to use Windows Azure to provision a Microsoft Dynamics NAV test environment. What approach to take provisioning different versions of Microsoft Dynamics NAV on Azure. Where to learn more about how to provision Microsoft Dynamics NAV test environment on Azure.
4
Windows azure benefits dev & test
Dev and test environments in minutes, not weeks. Realistic scale for test environments. High fidelity dev-test environments. Flexible and familiar dev-test tools. Cloud DEV/Test | Microsoft Azure

7
Realistic scale for test environments
Replicate real world scenarios. Test at production scale to catch and fix problems before release. If production environment is on Azure, can create exact clone to see how application will behave in the real world.
8
High fidelity dev-test environments
Azure is built on battle-tested Hyper-V virtualization technology. If your existing on-premises virtual machines on Hyper-V run on Azure with no change. Once applications are built and tested in Azure, you can choose to easily deploy them on-premises.
9
Flexible and familiar dev-test tools
Azure lets you take full advantage of existing applications, skills and expertise. You can test a wide range of enterprise applications on Azure Virtual Machines. Familiar tools like System Center or PowerShell scripting for easy provisioning, deployment, and management of dev-test environments.
10
Why Windows azure is economical
No up front costs. Pay only for what you use. No terminations fees. Per minute billing. Estimate your expected monthly bill using our Pricing Calculator, and track your actual account usage and bill at any time using the Billing Portal.

Microsoft azure – virtual machines
Price based on memory size and CPU’s. Image with SQL pre-installed available. Only charged when used. Lives in a Cloud Service. Has a local IP-address. Public IP and end point on Cloud Service. Different sizes, OS, disks, etc.
13
Microsoft azure – Cloud service
Cloud Service has one public IP-address. Located in a region or affinity group. Possible to link to owned domain. Can contain multiple VM’s with local IP-addresses. VM’s can be accessed via endpoints on Cloud Service. Endpoints can be load-balanced or port-forwarding.
14
Microsoft azure – storage
Location is important. Divided in blob’s. Multiple storage account possible. Geo redundant (optional).
15
Microsoft azure – Networks
Important when deploying multiple VM’s. Can span a complete region or affinity group. VM’s are in the same subset. VPN possible with local network.
16
Microsoft azure – active directory
Provides identity and access management. Can be integrated with in-premise Active Directory. Synchronization Single Sign On Integration with Dynamics NAV.
17
Microsoft azure – management portal
Azure Portal (Classic). Manage all Azure services. PowerShell available for more options. Azure Dashboard. (New Portal)
