Matter – anything that has mass and takes up space. Chemistry – study of the properties of matter and how matter changes. Substance – single kind of matter that is pure. (NaCl) Physical Properties – characteristics of a substance that can be observed. Chemical Properties – characteristics of a substance that describes its ability to change into a different substance.
