Are you looking for a SaaS backup vendor or an on-prem solution provider? AvePoint is primarily a migration company, whereas Backupify is a backup company. We were built in the cloud and as a result of our 8 years of experience, we’ve made a number of advancements in backup technology. How important is it to you that our business decisions are being made based on your backup products? Lack of cloud expertise and focus Backupify is a cloud expert with over 9 years experience in SaaS app backup How much data are you trying to store? How important is it that your backup solution supports your business as it grows? AvePoint modeled their backup product after their migration tools, meaning that they attempt to bulk grab data from Microsoft Migration APIs, which are highly inefficient. We backup individual users by each service they use - this method allows us to scale by backing up data with much greater efficiency. Struggles to scale - clients with 1TB+ of storage start getting inconsistent backups (ex: British Land saw only 80-90% backup success) Scales with Enterprise growth How much time do you have in your day-to-day to manage the nuances of your data backup across all of your company’s users? Setup in Backupify takes about 5 minutes and the addition or removal of users is fully automated. AvePoint is going to need you to install their software before proceeding, which requires some coding, and needs frequent user maintenance. Lack of setup automation; hard to use Easy to use; automated setup and user management functions How much data are you currently storing in Azure? How much is it costing you for additional storage in Azure? Companies must support their own storage on Azure Unlimited Storage in Datto-owned cloud AvePoint Weaknesses: Lack of cloud expertise and focus Struggles to scale - clients with 1TB+ of storage start getting inconsistent backups (ex: British Land saw only 80-90% backup success) Lack of setup automation; hard to use Questions: “Are you looking for a SaaS backup vendor or an on-prem solution provider? Sharp Sticks AvePoint is very well-known in Microsoft space - people who are moving from on-prem to O365 recognize them How to knock them out: “How important is it to you that your backup provider has had a track record of success? How important is it to you that your backup provider have a history of backing up SaaS apps? How important is your data if you’re willing to go with an on-prem migration company rather than industry experts?” AvePoint offers configurable storage locations: your data can be stored in a private cloud, Microsoft Azure, AWS or Dropbox How to knock them out: “How comfortable are you with having your data stored in a 3rd party location that’s subject to things like shared bandwidth, security breaches or downtime? Datto’s private cloud is purpose built for backup and recovery, so it’s designed to work. Also, you’ll never share bandwidth with unrelated services (ie Netflix on AWS).” Leveraging Datto’s cloud allows us to pass cost savings onto you as we do not charge for storage fees - leveraging a public cloud doesn’t provide the same kind of savings over time. AvePoint has a more granular SharePoint backup tool (layouts, permissions etc.) How to knock them out: “Can they backup all of your data in a timely fashion given and restore at the individual document level given its size? If you’re looking to store over a TB of data, AvePoint may not be able to back up all of your data.” AvePoint is very well-known in Microsoft space - people who are moving from on-prem to O365 recognize them How to knock them out: “How important is it to you that your backup provider has had a track record of success?
