Preview - an inspection or viewing of something before it is bought or becomes generally known and available
Question - a sentence worded or expressed so as to elicit information; an inquiry
Predict - say or estimate that (a specified thing) will happen in the future or will be a consequence of something; to foretell the story often based on foreshadowing
Make Inferences - a conclusion reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning.
Interpret - understand (a character’s action, mood, or way of behaving) as having a particular meaning or significance; OR to construct meaning of an unknown word.
Connect - bring together or into contact so that a real or notional link is established. There are THREE TYPES: text to self, text to text, & text to world.
Summarize - give a brief statement of the main points of the story’s plot; PLEASE DO THIS AT THE END OF EACH CHAPTER!
Evaluate - form an idea of the amount, number, or value of; assess; judge; examine.
Analyze - examine methodically and in detail the constitution or structure of (something, especially information), typically for purposes of explanation and interpretation.
Reflect - think deeply or carefully about; contemplate. For literature, think about the AUTHOR’S PURPOSE and THEME – what can be learned from reading?
Visualize - form a mental image of an object, a character, or a scene from the story.
