Weight Management How to access help for weight loss
You are required to lose weight to help you gain access to surgery. It is likely that you will have tried in the past. Using commercial companies such as Weight Watchers and Slimming World are all good and if you have not tried them we would encourage you to give them a try. However, we have listed below the help you can get from the NHS. Note, that different schemes are available dependent on where you live. All require a referral from your GP Weight loss is a challenge, but you now have a good reason to achieve it. By changing your diet and lifestyle you will not only lose weight but will improve your nutritional status which will help your progress through surgery. Do you live in Portsmouth? You can ask for the help of a health trainer. They are available at many GP practices or in centres such as John Pounds. There are 10 pharmacies in Portsmouth that offer weight management services in a one to one style. You can also ask your GP to refer you to the NHS dietetic service. If you have a BMI >35 and two illnesses related to your weight or you are a BMI of 50 and over, and are a non-smoker you can ask your GP to refer you to Integrated Complex Obesity Service at QAH on Do you live in Hampshire? If you are a BMI 30 + you can ask your GP for referral to Weight Watchers, getting 12 weeks for free.
