Expected help from the Loyalists in the south Loyalist exiles in Britain had exaggerated how large Loyalist support in the south was Loyalist exiles had lost their property, if Britain won the war they hope to regain it

Traded a command in the British army for the plans to West Point Major John Andre was caught and hanged Arnold fought with the British, burned Richmond

7 Yorktown Last major battle of the American Revolution
October 19, 1781 British led by General Cornwallis Americans led by General Washington French army led by General Rochambeau French navy led by Admiral deGrasse

8 French fleet led by Admiral De Grasse come to fight the British because it’s hurricane season in the Caribbean. French army led by General Rochambeau fights alongside the Americans. George Washington is the top commander. Lord Cornwallis goes to the Yorktown peninsula on purpose so that if he is trapped he’ll be able to escape by sea using the British navy. British navy is driven off by the French navy leaving Cornwallis trapped.

American artillery shells the British 24 hours a day. The Americans take redoubt 9 and 10, led by Alexander Hamilton. They attack at night and use the bayonet. This forces the British to surrender. Cornwallis fakes sick and does not attend the surrender ceremony.
