About me I have a wonderful wife!
I have twin girls that turn 6 in September. My son, Levi, turns 1 in October. I love my family, I love my town, and I love teaching!

Back to School: How to be Successful
Be Prepared Do you have your materials? Are you on time? Are you following routines? Be positive You are going to fail, so learn. Choose to make each day a good day. Do your best in everything you do. Be kind Treat others how you want to be treated Understand that all of you are a part of our community. Instead of looking for differences, look for similarities.

5th Grade Expectations: Be Respectful
Respect yourself You represent yourself, your family, our classroom, and our school. Respect others Treat others how you want to be treated. Treat me with respect, and I will treat you with the same! Make eye contact Respond respectfully Understand that I am here for YOU! Limit conversation when I am teaching. Pay attention! My Role: Be on time and be present. Be patient and answer questions. Respect your thoughts, and feelings. Understand that you do not have all the answers. (Neither do I!) Communicate about: Absences Changes in Routines Upcoming assignments and tests. Hold both myself, and you accountable for our actions.

5th Grade Expectations: Be Responsible
Be Prepared! Bring your binder each day. Take care of the papers in your binder. Keep your planner in your binder and actually use it! Completed every Monday Bring a pencil, or sharpen it when you get here. Have your pen, and independent work ready to go after you do your warm up activity. Complete independent work before class starts. You should have no homework!!! 7k

5th Grade Expectations: Be Safe
Transitions We will be changing classes, and traveling around the building (Specials, lunch, recess), keep your hands to yourself. Follow Safety Procedures: Tornado Drill: Girls Bathroom Fire Drill: Line up immediately Last person checks the room and shuts the door. Wait quietly outside for Mr. Steinhaus Lockdown: ZERO TALKING! Stay calm! Make a plan! Run, hide, fight!

Arrival Expectations Hallway Lunch Choice Planner
Place your backpack, coat, and anything that does not belong in class in your locker. Lockers are small! Do not bring things that are too big! Instruments for band, and large projects can be stored in the back of the room neatly. Use the bathroom, get a drink, and GET TO CLASS! My cutoff for saying good morning, and getting settled is 9:08! Lunch Choice You are to make your lunch choice on your way into class. Lunch person is to take it down after announcements. Planner We will start each day with reviewing your planner! Get it out, be ready to learn!

Departure Expectations
Dismissal is at 3:51, we will begin getting ready to leave at 3:45 each day. NOTE: On Tuesdays, you will get ready before PE, and be dismissed directly from PE. Get your backpack and coat, and bring it to class. Then put your books into your bag! Stack your chairs every day Sit on desks, and wait until the bell rings. You may: Talk Play games on your phone When I am here: Play silent ball, or another game

Technology Expectations
Be Responsible You are responsible for what is on your screen AT ALL TIMES Stay focused on what you are supposed to be doing in class Do not add games, or apps to chrome that will distract you. Be Respectful Treat the keyboard and monitor with respect. Do not pick the keys off, or bend the monitor back further than needed. Be respectful to classmates online. Your comments are public and are able to be seen by me, Mr. Steinhaus, and parents. Be Safe Stay away from chat rooms, social media of any kind, sending videos, or viewing inappropriate materials.

Bathroom Expectations
Be Respectful Clean up after yourself Respect others’ privacy Use kind words Use an appropriate voice Be Responsible Flush toilet Report writing, damage, and inappropriate behavior to a teacher Use restroom with permission only Use your time appropriately Be Safe Wash hands with soap and warm water Use sinks, stalls, and toilets appropriately Keep food out of the bathroom

Bathroom Expectations
Be Trustworthy! 3 people in the bathroom at one time. All others wait patiently in the hallway. Use the bathroom, wash your hands, leave the bathroom. Do not: Hang on the doors, jump on the doors, or kick the doors. Play in the water, or make a mess in the bathroom for someone else. Horseplay, or push each other around. Put someone else in an uncomfortable situation. YOU BREAK IT YOU BUY IT!

Use manners: Please and Thank you Wait patiently for your turn Hold the door for others Smile and be polite Be Responsible Make sure you have your pass or information ready for Mrs. Hendry Wait your turn, and tell Mrs. Hendry why you are there Only visit the office with permission Be Safe Let others with emergencies go first Tell your teacher before going to the office Stay on front side of the counter unless given permission Be aware of allergies

Be Respectful Talk to those near you Use manners: Please and Thank You Greet and compliment the people that serve you food Eat your own food Be kind to others who want to sit by you Be Responsible Clean up after yourself, and help others Stay in your seat Make good food choices Be Safe Keep hands, feet, and food to yourself Exit in an orderly fashion. Please don’t run Wash hands or use hand sanitizer on the way back from lunch

Recess/Playground Expectations
Equipment If you take anything from our room, YOU are responsible for bringing it back in If you wish to bring your own ball, you can, and you may keep it in the closet. Lunch Basket Only the two designated people may take the lunch basket. They do not need 5 people to help. Do not bring food back from lunch Take your lunch pail home at the end of the day
