2 The class Aves are the birds.

3 This blue jay is a bird.

4 The ostrich is a bird.

5 The eagle is a bird.

6 The hummingbird is a bird.

7 Even the penguin is a bird.

8 As is the kiwi.

9 These birds are all very different from each other.
Are you sure we’re cousins?

10 So what makes Aves, Aves? I don’t know.

11 All birds have at least seven things in common.
Yeah? Like what?

12 Look at me! I can fly! I can fly!
1. Birds have wings. Look at me! I can fly! I can fly! Well… maybe not.

13 2. Birds are bipedal (have 2 legs).
I have two legs. Mine are longer. Me too. So what?

14 3. Birds are endothermic (warm-blooded).
I don’t feel so warm myself.

15 4. Birds are vertebrates (have backbones).

16 5. Birds lay eggs.

17 6. Birds have feathers. Do we really have feathers?
If we didn’t we’d be freezing right now.

18 You got a problem with that?
7. Birds have beaks. Yeah, I got a beak. You got a problem with that?

19 So what makes Aves, Aves? Backbone Beak Feathers Wings Warm Blooded
Lays Eggs Bipedal (two legs)
