2 Objectivity in research and publications
MISSION The Argentine Council for International Relations is not only a flagship institution in the field of international relations in Argentina but also worldwide. It is a civil society, partisan-free, non-profit think tank, with a long-standing track record. CARI thoroughly studies Argentina´s insertion and participation in world affairs as well as the main global challenges. CARI provides a forum for dialogue and pluralistic debate on the most relevant issues between major players and their peers from public and private sectors, both domestically and internationally. CARI also produces reliable papers and supplies updated information. CORE PRINCIPLES Pluralism of ideas Freedom of speech Objectivity in research and publications Cooperation with public and private sectors

3 A BRIEF HISTORY ORGANIZATION
CARI was established on June 15th, 1978 by Carlos Manuel Muñiz and a group of distinguished international affairs professionals. Dr. Muñiz, a former Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador to Bolivia, Brazil, USA and the United Nations, came up with the idea of creating a think- tank by bringing together foreign policy exports and providing a forum for national dialogue on Argentine international insertion. ORGANIZATION CARI´s usual activities are developed by a working team that organizes the institution´s general functioning. The main component is the Academic Secretariat, which carries the Council´s agenda and coordinates the work of its different study areas (institutes, committees and working groups).

4 ACTIVITIES STUDY AREAS
CARI conducts two types of activities. 1.-:It holds academic sessions or seminars, where participation is open and free of charge. These events are announced on our website cari.org.ar 2.- CARI organizes private activities - committee meetings or workshops - where participation is restricted to CARI members and local or foreign guests who are invited to attend because of their expertise or professional associations. Such type of private events are held under the so-called “non-attribution” rule, best known as Chatham House Rule. STUDY AREAS CARI´s institutes, committees and working groups carry out their activities covering varied topics and regions, and consist of ad-honorem experts. Each has different ways of working and make up the central component of the Council´s activities, whether it is organizing publications, seminars, academic sessions or consulting meetings for public servants or civil society experts.
