6 How Do I Talk? PTT (Push-to-talk) – hold this down and talk into the microphone MONI switch – opens squelch fully so you can hear weak signals Lamp switch – illuminates the LCD and the keypad for 5 seconds (Pg. 17)

7 Where Does the Battery Go?
Make sure battery fits well No need to take out battery to charge – just use the DC adapter

8 How Do I Charge It? MIC/SP jack – connection point for microphone, earphone, PTT, and ground EXT DC jack- connection point for the external DC power source (to charge the radio)

9 First Things First When I say PRESS = push button only for ½ second
When I say HOLD = hold button down for more than 2 seconds You only have 5 seconds to press the next button or turn the knob… or else the radio will go back to initial setting How to get new frequencies anywhere: California Frequencies… U.S. Frequencies... Internet Radio Linking Project (IRLP)…

10 How Do I Program a Channel?
Start in VFO mode Type in frequency using key pad (If Tone) Press FW, then press #1 (SQ TYP), turn dial to “TONE”, press FW (Select Tone) Press FW, then press #2 (CODE), turn dial to “100.0 HZ”, press FW Hold FW, then turning dial to select desired channel to save on, then press FW; you will see “MEM-IN” (Source: Pg. 22, 28)

11 How Do I Name a Channel? Start in MEMORY mode Select channel to name
Press FW, then press #0 (SET), turn dial to “28 NM WRT”, press FW twice Turn dial left to select letter Press FW to advance/move right (Press [down] to backspace) When done, hold FW to store Press PTT to finalize (Source: Pg. 30)

12 How Do I Erase a Channel? Start in MEMORY mode Hold FW for 2 seconds
Turn dial to the channel you want to erase Press HM/RV (Source: Pg. 32)

13 How Do I Scan ALL Channels?
Press V/M to select either MEMORY mode Hold [up] or [down] arrow to scan Press [up] or [down] to stop scanning (Source: Pg. 37)

14 How Do I “Skip” a Channel?
Start in MEMORY mode Select channel to SKIP Press FW then #0 (SET) Rotate dial to “46 SKIP” Press FW Rotate dial to “SKIP” Press PTT (Source: Pg. 37)

15 How Do I Select a Particular “Bank” of Channels?
Start in MEMORY mode Hold down BAND for 2 sec Turn dial to select “No Bank, 1, 2, 3, etc” Press V/M (Source: Pg. 39)

A = Channel # B = Channel name C = Frequency D = Show Alpha or Frequency E = Mode (FM, AM, etc) F = Skip (when scanning) G = Step (5 KHz, 10, 15, etc) H = Tone offset +, -, or nothing What each column is: I = Shift up or down (.600) J = Tone (On or Off) K = Tone (100, 127.3, etc) L = DCS?? M = Transmit power (high, low) N = TX Dev?? O = Clk Sh?? P = Bank 1, 2, etc to the right
