31st year teaching total
I have taught grades 1-5 and enrichment
I live in Troy with my husband Mark and Kleeko our Pug.
My son Michael is currently in the Disney College Program and will resume his junior year at Bowling Green in January.
I enjoy volunteering and fostering for Pug Rescue Network and anything Disney related.

9. Student of the Week Students are notified the week before their week.
Students will bring home a permission slip to use the flip camera.
When your child returns the permission slip they will be given the flip camera to film short clips of their family, friends, pets, activities etc.
We will watch the video during your students week.
All videos are deleted after viewing.

10. Absences/Tardies
If you are aware of upcoming absences, please let me know.
You MUST contact the office/attendance line when your child is absent.
I will do my best to gather work for your child for illness or vacation.
First bell at 8:44 am, tardy bell at 8:49 am.

15. What Are the Essentials of Writing Instruction?
Writing needs to be taught like any other basic skill, with explicit instruction and ample opportunity for practice.
Children deserve to write for real purposes, to write the kinds of texts that they see in the world and to write for an audience of readers.
Writers write to put meaning onto the page choosing topics that are important to them most of the time.
Children need to be explicitly taught how to write.
Children need the opportunity and instruction to cycle through the writing process.
To write well, children need opportunities to read and to hear texts read, and to read as writers.
Children need clear goals and frequent feedback.

16. Word Study Words Their Way is the program used for word study.
Emphasis is on patterns and meaning.
Word Study helps students with vocabulary, reading and writing, as well as spelling.
Sort words according to “headers’ which identify the patterns being studied.
Students must know the “headers” for their tests on Thursdays.

Monday- Meet with each group and teach the pattern. Students copy the words and store in a bag in their desk.
Tuesday-Cut, paste, and sort words in their books.
