1 ELA Member Firm Presentation
Recommend adding a dated, firm-specific cover page that speaks to your purpose for sharing the deck.

2 Why Do Networks Exist? The Business Challenge:
More and more large multi-national firms are entering local markets and capturing local platinum client work. Independent firms must develop alliances and partnership with other firms/jurisdictions in order to compete head on with this challenge. Why are these large single firms successful? Greater financial resources/marketing capabilities Offer a perceived ‘global’ solution to clients

3 The Advantages of a Global Network
Provides a defensive posture against competitive firms in your market by offering your clients an alternative to larger multi-national or swiss-vereins. Creates new capabilities for local member firms to compete, capture and retain top clients on a regional and global scale. Offers timely access to top L &E lawyers, as well as and other practice areas expertise from member firms as needed.

4 Who is the ELA? The ELA is in all 50 U.S. states, all 10 Canadian Provinces and more than 116 countries globally. With many of the worlds best firms as members, the ELA represents more than 3,000 attorneys around the world.

9 In addition to the ELA’s thorough screening process:
Nearly 90% of ELA members are ranked by Chambers or other leading legal directories from around the globe. New members are only selected after a rigorous process, which includes detailed consultation with judges, industry leaders and current ELA members. This quest for quality appears vindicated by the fact that the ELA itself is ranked in Band 1 by the Chambers legal directory. – HR NETWORK, JANUARY 2015 ELA member firms and attorneys are consistently ranked at the top of lists including Chambers and Partners, Best Lawyers and The Legal 500. In addition to Chambers, ELA is ranked among other top rating services regionally and nationally.

10 Why ELA? Largest network of labor, employment and immigration lawyers in the world. Valuable, pre-qualified referral source for both in-bound and out-bound business leads. Provides clients seamless answers to multijurisdictional concerns. Complements law firm business development and marketing resources and creates new opportunities. If your client has a problem virtually anywhere in the world, an ELA colleague can help. While you sleep, halfway around the world, a skilled, trusted colleague is helping find information, answers and solutions for your multinational client.

11 What are current ELA members saying?
Enhanced Reach and Service Capabilities The ELA offers us in Kentucky, as well as firms across the country and internationally, the ability to enhance all of our client services through our network of trusted colleagues across the globe. – Bryan H. Beauman, Sturgill, Turner, Barker & Moloney, United States Timely Responses with Local Insights at Local Rates The key is creating relationships – to be able to say to clients, no matter the time of day, “I know someone in that area who will give their best at a reasonable price because they know me and my firm, and we are a part of the same client service- driven mission.” – Ajay Raghavan, Trilegal, India Trusted Colleagues Who Share Your Service Values It’s comforting for clients to know that they can come to Deacons with questions involving multiple countries because the firm has access to the ELA capabilities and can quickly provide critical information. The level of service and the deep knowledge of ELA members means that Deacons can refer business to members with confidence. – Cynthia Chung, Deacons, Hong Kong

12 How does ELA ensure quality?
Membership is selective and exclusive. Firms are invited to join the network only after rigorous review, including feedback from judges and opposing counsel. Each jurisdiction has only one member firm. High service standards are paramount – and consistently monitored. Membership is not automatic. Firms are invited to join only after a rigorous review, including feedback from current members, judges and opposing counsel. The goal is to be able to say to clients, “We can confidently say that our ELA member firm in XYZ jurisdiction is up to our own standard of excellence and will provide the same high level of client service.”

13 How does the ELA supplement the firm’s L&E practice?
“Global and Local” – Worldwide reach with answers from local attorneys where a client is doing business. Billing rates reflective of the jurisdiction. Country and regional nuances of the law and the court system are skillfully navigated. Simply knowing what a statute says is not enough; for a company to fully understand and, ultimately, enforce its meaning, the law must be decoded and put through a filter of cultural context by trained professionals. - ELA CEO and Founder Stephen J. Hirschfeld, Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) The “Home Court Advantage” is a sports metaphor meaning that teams at home – be they on the baseball diamond, the basketball court, the soccer field or the cricket field – know the playing field intimately and play with confidence and a level of comfort that gives them an advantage over visiting teams. Clients benefit from local counsel – as opposed to “regional” counsel not based in a jurisdiction. ELA lawyers know the laws, know the courts and know the judges.

14 How strong is the ELA brand?
Over the last two years, 25+ multi-member, multi-jurisdictional webinars have been offered and viewed by more than 5,000 clients and prospective clients. Powerful and targeted topics include: - “The BYOD Workplace and 24/7 Employee: Managing Risks for Employers” attendees. - “Preventing Workplace Violence in the U.S.: Critical Legal, Behavioral, and Operational Considerations for Employers” 538 attendees. - “Hot Topics in Employment Law for the Oil and Gas Industry: A Global Perspective” 116 attendees. - “A Year in Review: Key U.S. Labor and Employment Law Developments in 2014 and What to Expect in 2015” 619 attendees.
