Mexico Mexico is the third largest Area in North America, but it has the second largest population. US: 314 Million Mexico: 116 Million Canada: 31 Million

Mexico’s heartland Mexico’s heartland is in its central region this region contains Mexico’s best farmland, (good soil and plenty of rain.) A heartland is an area of a country that best represents the entire country. Four-fifths of Mexico lives in its heartland. Mexico City is located in this region. It is one of the world’s largest and fastest growing cities.

As its population increases so do its problems: lack of healthcare, not enough education facilities, high unemployment, insufficient government services

This is the main reason why so many people from Mexico seek entrance into the US. They seek jobs and a lifestyle that they cannot achieve in Mexico.

NAFTA- North American Free Trade Agreement
This trade agreement eliminated tariffs and trade barriers between Mexico, the US, and Canada. A tariff is a tax placed on imported goods.

Purpose of NAFTA The purpose of NAFTA is to provide jobs and increase the standard of living for the people in Mexico.
